Hey everyone,

I recently started a job as an outbound, enterprise BDR.

I have no previous experience with sales, but I did really well at first. In my first two months I was at the top of my sales team, and one of the top performers in the national sales org for dials/arr.

I hit a block, and now I can't seem to get passes at all. My effort hasn't changed. But I can't get meetings scheduled.

Has anyone experienced hitting a block like this? How do you overcome it?

Read fanatical prospecting by Jen Blount- was a game changer for me.

Realize that sales is cyclical- anyone can have a good month or two but where you really become successful is learning how to push through the tough months and focus on outputs. Eventually you will learn your numbers e.g. 100 dials means I make 20 connects, 20 connects converts to 3-5 meetings.

Once you find this and really focus on outputs you can work backwards to exceed quota. Also know that it really is a numbers game. You can make small adjustments to the pitch to get a higher connection to meeting rate but in order to have those at bats you need to consistently do your dials. You’ll find that the work you do now will pay dividends 30 days from now.

I think it's normal to go through slumps like this. I know you say you haven't changed anything, but maybe making a few tweaks might be just enough to shake things up and get those sales rolling back in.


That calls for a break already. You can't always give it your all, at some point you'll get burned out. take breather, you'll be more productive once you get back your fire.


I have to agree. Burnout sucks. I would take a break if you can.


Outside sales are hard...I usually stick with inside sales roles as it is easier to close and more commision for me.

Currently a lowly OM when it’s convenient for everyone else ie when they can’t or don’t know how to deal with an issue nevermind the million other things I do to run the entire business. I just received an offer from BNY Mellon, and as per their terms and conditions mentions BNY can solely decide to reject or not accept our resignation letter, even though the notice says 60 days? Is it even legally allowed?

Can we never leave them after handing over the resignation letter until they agree as well?


So I’m late to the Indian Matchmaking series. Is it the guy who has to be wealthy and the women who need to come from wealth? There doesn’t seem to be a lot of emphasis on what the women do for a living, but the men all seem either well-off or getting called losers. Is that what people look for in real life too? So there’s no place for women on the come up to be with someone above their own social class?


Suggestions for skinny jeans that might work on larger legs? I like the general silhouette of "skinny" styles but need a brand/style that skims my legs (versus adhering to them). I'm also short so need a petite option. Is there such a thing?!?

I think I’m ready to finally take the plunge and start looking for positions outside public. I’m not sure as a first year senior what I would qualify for or common roles tax seniors exit to. I would definitely be open to no longer working in tax.

I have been with my company 20+ years. This past year they did a sales market restructure - directions from new upper management. The restructure has been less than favorable toward my commission goals. The coming years don’t look promising. Does anyone know fair earnings for distribution sales? I grew my accounts 400k last year and manage around 1.2m in accounts. What is a reasonable take home I should be getting?
