What would be my inhand salary?
Hello, I am having my first connect with recruiter at Amazon for modernisation Architect role next week. It is scheduled for 30 min. Could anyone throw some lights on how the first connect looks like. Do I need to prepare in terms of behavioral questions(which I seen quite a lot in everyone's post) . Thank in advance you for your support.

Where’s the lie
First, check Glassdoor to see what junior designers in that city are making so you don’t accidentally lowball yourself.
Once you do see what the average salary is, ask for $5-10K more than that, because most likely the job is going to try to talk you down on price. So for example, if junior designers in that city make $40K on average, ask for $50K upfront. Then they will probably negotiate down to $40-45K.
It feels very scary talking about money when you’re new to the business and making the most money you’ve ever made in your life (believe me, I’ve been there!) but unfortunately a lot of people take advantage of the naïveté and excitement. Just because you’re young and willing doesn’t mean you’re expendable.
Good luck to ya!
Thank you so much!

I always put 0 or “negotiable” in that slot. I see no reason to say anything at the time you apply about salary. It will either cause you to leave money on the table or get excluded for wanting too much.
Don’t be the first to give a number, but I think you can expect 50-60k
40k might be a bit low. Give a range and make it fairly broad: 40 - 60k. That way it’s on them to throw out the first ‘real’ number and you don’t lowball yourself.
As an aside, I don’t understand why any agency would ask salary requirements for a junior position. They already know what they are willing to pay. For the agency, this is a low-risk hire.
Making the first offer in a salary negotiation is a poor move. They are trying to force you into that. If it is your first job you won’t have any flex so use salary.com and even Glassdoor for that company and see what ranges you get. Give them a range. Something like 40-60k I would gurss
Always ask for more than you think you will end up getting. My first job out of college in 2019 was a junior graphic design position and my salary was $38k (in Atlanta). I was just happy to be getting a job so I didn’t counter. In hindsight I wish I had know I was even allowed to. Definitely do your research so you have reasoning behind your salary range. Good luck!
Whats your location? We can’t really help without the context. NYC or the Midwest would all have different numbers
North Carolina. It seems the range would be 45k to 50k but it just feels strange to me to put a number just like that upfront.
In dollars or ??
No, do research on typical pay on role, company, and seniority. Than, put above the median as a starting point.
