I work as a vet assistant and am currently enrolled in my first semester in penn foster. I have 4-5 classes from my previous bachelors degree that will transfer and I’m trying to get a gauge on how long the program will take to complete. The progress tracker at doing 18 hours a week currently has me finishing 1/4 semesters in 11 months. I feel like that is very long for just one semester. Any input is appreciated!

MBB offices for tech cases, low COL?
Currently working in tech, leaving for MBA ideally followed by MBB. Thinking ahead because of pre MBA events and long term partner. Paying sticker for MBA with loans, partner in school for 2-3 years after MBA. Which offices should I consider to build quick NW/pay off debt, build strong network in tech in/outside the firm, provide QOL similar to my unconstrained choices (LA or NYC)?

Anyone do KPMG MBA tuition program ? Or any MBA program to get into strategy ? What was that process like and do you regret it?

I’m a LCSW, have been working in mental health for 10 years, and have a job that enables HRSA to pay off my student loans. I really want to go back to medical school to be a psychiatrist. I never realized how badly some of the staff at animal shelters treat people who are forced to surrender their pets. Chances are the owners already feel awful about it, I don't know why anyone would feel the need to make it worse

I adore animals, people not so much... if you saw how people mistreat their pets you would probably say the same

I haven’t even graduated yet and I’m realizing dealing with clients is by far the worst part of this job. What career options could I consider where I don’t have to deal with owners directly?

Having an animal friend with cancer is not something easy. This year I have already had 24 animals that went to sleep in order to stop suffering. This is not easy for their families at all. It seems to me that the cancer stats in domestic animals are increasing, is this just me?

How wrong to have preferences for a certain breed of dog over another just because, for example, I have had Golden Retrievers patients much more aggressive than Rottweilers. Not everything should be written in stone, other breeds of dogs are also worthwhile.

A lot of the dogs I see for digestive issues turn out to have food allergies. People would be doing themselves (and their pets) a real favor if they just kept track of what their dogs were eating, it’d narrow down the foods for allergy testing

What books would you recommend to a vet student outside of books required in the curriculum?

I can't stand it when people get mad at their pets for hunting smaller animals, it's their instinct and you can't train it out of them. Just get them something safer to hunt: catnip, chew toys, and balls are good for most creatures

I am a veterinarian who's been working with domestic animals for years, but I currently have a very good job offer to treat exotic animals, we are talking about horses, elephants and giraffes. Any advice from experts?

Veterinarians and their staff have to balance compassion with practicality, I get that, and I know not every animal can be saved. But have you ever been pressured to try to save an animal that you knew probably wasn't going to make it because the customer would pay more that way?

Favorite part of being a vet?

I’m struggling to find the best shoes for the job. I need something comfy enough to stand in all day but that are easy to clean off various fluids as needed. Any suggestions?
