So possibly silly refinancing question: my understanding of refinancing is that if interest rates lower, you basically start a new mortgage with a new bank at lower rates and pay off your old mortgage. With this, there's some closing costs associated.

Assuming your old bank doesn't want to lose your business (aka, interest payments), why don't they offer to simply reduce the interest rate on your mortgage to what they're currently offering customers?

Hey all - first year associate here… I’ve met my hours requirement for this year (requirement is 1900 and am currently at around 2050 with billable hours - approx. 2160 with non billable admin hours) and I am just tired. Is it okay to just “disappear” during the holidays (thanksgiving week, week of Christmas) and let partners and senior associates know I am not available? So here's where I'm at....I have a job that's VERY stable but a manager that well, manages poorly. The manager is there for the foreseeable future, there is no room for promotion or a possible shift change for another 2-4 years. Opportunity is seemingly presenting itself elsewhere, but I'm worried about the stability of the new place. I've seen that they just had workers retire after 35-40 years and the reviews are at 82% recommended work place. My goal is to get to 1st shift. Thoughts?

Too Late To Ask for Sign On Bonus?

Received an offer yesterday and was not offered sign on bonus, however I just remember I need to pay back a portion of my EY sign on bonus...Is it too late to bring it up and ask for a sign on bonus now?

After 3 months of applying I some how got an interview with a well known growing tech start up! Interviewed and got an offer this week. Unfortunately the offer is lower than my current comp with 1 yoe but it gets me out of tech consulting/compliance and into a pretty interesting product facing role! A bit sad about a lower comp but also pretty pumped about pivoting career paths so early and getting to work in product! Hope this “success” helps motivate some of y’all who might feel down!

I accepted a base salary of $60k as a first year associate and to expect an end of year bonus based on the settlement of my partner’s cases that I work on substantially. The bonus was only $2500 and I got a base pay raise that still doesn’t bring me into the lower 25% of the market rate. Feeling really undervalued and not sure if this is normal in “plaintiffs world”

I’m having a hard time understanding the salary /TC ranges for mid- to senior-level strategy positions in the Denver area (10-15 YOE). They seem to vary a lot, and are broadly low vs. other markets (mid $100k-low $200k vs TC closer to $300-$400k+ on the coasts). Any observations? Which companies would you look at for more substantial comp outside consulting?
