I would not stay in West Adams. It's up and coming but it is not safe i lived there for 3 months and had to move. Im a culver city native and would recommend it! Palms and mar vista are great areas too
West Adams is an upcoming neighborhood. Otherwise, Culver City is great as well
think about what matters to you: type of outdoor activities, art, food, music. and where you will be working. commutes may not be as bad or necessary right now but probably will be in your future. do you want a house or apartment? LA is a collection of great neighborhoods and it will be easier to make recos based on what is important to you.
How many bedrooms for house? Anything below $5k might be tough in Culver for 3 bedrooms but if it’s smaller and closer to west adams you may be ok depending on how nice you want.
You should be alright. You can get nice 1 bedroom apartments for $2-$2.5k. 2 bedrooms for $3.5k is also feasible for sure
Agree that Culver is probably your best bet commute wise. Also could look into the grove / miracle mile, Silverlake, echo park, West Hollywood, mar vista, palms. All have very different vibes so you may want to explore a bit.
Rising Star
And this is what I love about LA. The unique vibes of each neighborhood/area offers something for everyone and makes it so much fun to keep exploring.
I live in “castle heights” which is a small neighborhood next to palms. culver, and Cheviot hills/Beverlywood and I love it! Only a 10-15 min walk to downtown Culver City. I’ve never felt unsafe walking around the neighborhood in the evening. There’s lots of single family homes in the area.
I live in Silver Lake and love it! If you go to “Discover Los Angeles” YouTube, they have some short sizzles for neighborhoods in Los Angeles - I watched the ones for the neighborhoods I was interested in before I moved here last year: https://youtu.be/_j4WfXKxAWw

Culver City will work well for you
And here’s one for Culver since a few were recommending it too. Culver is great too but a different vibe! https://youtu.be/qrRNoXjd6nc
Silver Lake and Echo Park are lovely and within a 30 minute drive!
oh really? that's great! i've had some friends tell me i'd fit in well with the vibe of those neighborhoods but was afraid it might be too far.
