Hey folks,
I'm moving to Chicago in a month and I wanna narrow down my search. Where are the best places to live for a single 29M who will be looking to make friends and also wants to be close ish to work ?

Thanks 😊

Wicker park

like

Anything from Wriglyville down to South Loop within a mile ish from the lake shore probably fits your needs.

like

You won’t need to go to the office

like

I also love wicker park/bucktown

Lake view east; good cheap place with lots to do

like

Lincoln Park!

Hell yeah

Gold Coast- apartment building on e division and stone street is very affordable

like

I have an apartment on Wells - luxury building in heart of old town, I’m trying to sublet. Would be a great building for you and the building has a pool and social events for residents (mostly young professionals). DM me if you’re interested

like

Fave buildings:
- river north: 640 n wells, one superior
- west loop: the Madison, union west, 15 n Morgan st

Old town park is so overpriced and I have to take the L pretty long down to work in the loop. I don’t love it. I also have an issue with Gold Coast not having a good amount of public transportation options- it’s not really by the L so just buses.

I’m trying sublease my 1 bed in Wolf Point West, lease ends April 24 2022. If you don’t like it, you can move out at end of April. Might be a good way for you to vet River North without having to commit to a long lease

like

DM'd you

West loop is where it’s at

like

River North, West Loop, or Lakeside

like

Lakeview and Lincoln Park! They're close to the city but have more personality than the areas right in downtown (and more things to do).

like

Fully agree. Used to live in River North and moved to Northalstead / Lakeview East. Just as many things to do and more personality. Also, more affordable.

like

I have a beautiful 48th floor 2bd 2ba apt in the heart of downtown I’m trying to sublease from March/April-aug 8 for $2800 including living room furniture if needed. Building is two blocks from all wacker offices, Ogilvie train station, union station, and only 5 min away from Fulton market and downtown. Message me for more details if you’re interested!

I’m planning to build out a set of wealth management tools and would love to get some feedback. When planning for retirement, how would you prioritize the following (and is there anything else you’d consider)
1) early retirement - minimizing the age required to get just enough wealth/ savings to retire (I.e., your target wealth at death is zero)
2) inheritance - maximizing the value of your wealth at the time of your deaths
