I’m sure you can find a breed specific rescue. But maybe seriously consider why you’re picking that breed specifically ...as mentioned above they have a slew of health issues. There are plenty of adorable dogs out there who need homes so regardless of if you decide to stick with a Frenchie, definitely try shelters first ☺️
I have a family member who breeds them in CA. But honestly, adopt don’t shop.
Instagram handle is color_me_frenchies_
They’re very cute and sweet but very prone to health problems due to the way they’ve been bred to have ever-flatter faces, stockier bodies, etc. It’s super expensive to keep them healthy—my mom has three and they’ve all had to have their nostrils enlarged, some teeth pulled, sinus surgery, etc. http://www.vetstreet.com/our-pet-experts/this-veterinarians-love-hate-relationship-with-french-bulldogs
I have one, and he’s the best thing ever and I’ll definitely get another for a playmate. If you’re seriously looking at one, the biggest thing is to find a breeder that’s not doing it just for a quick buck. Someone who’s genuinely considerate about bloodlines and how the dog’s health is impacted through breeding. Because as people always point out, these dogs CAN be prone to health issues - which can be helped A LOT by considered breeding practices. It will cost more and take a lot more research, but it will be worth it.
Also, when it comes to rescue Frenchies, they’re often few and far between because they’re such a big investment to begin with. Yes you might find one, but rescues often have a set of criteria you need to meet before adoption.
Overall, they’re absolutely incredible dogs, but make sure you know what you’re potentially getting into - especially cost-wise. Like I said, a lot of health issues can be somewhat addressed through correct breeding, but you’ll pay more up front. Think of the dog’s wellbeing more than your wallet.
