Pilsen - great bars, food, art. If you’re into Mexican food and culture, especially.
All good suggestions. Would also throw in Lincoln Square. Assuming you work downtown, it depends on how long you want your commute. Andersonville and Lincoln Square are a bit further away and will take maybe 30-40 minutes by train. Wicker Park and Bucktown are closer and the commute could be closer to 20 minutes.
Wicker Park, Logan Square, Ukrainian Village.
Agreed with the above. Would also add West Loop/Fulton Market, Andersonville, West Town and Pilsen.
I’m thankful and delighted by these responses. Happy to be amongst Chicagoans!
If you’re looking to stay along the lakeshore,Uptown is okay though not as good as the other options above.
Other advice in finding an apartment is to walk the neighborhoods for “for rent” signs, also look on Craigslist. Those are all hot neighborhoods and brokers know it.
This is great advice, thank you all!

Yawn
Logan square, wicker park or bucktown! They're all super walkable & close to bars, restaurants, parks.
As someone that moved to Chicago without knowing anyone, don't recommend Pilsen. It's a great neighborhood, but kinda out of the way so it's hard to meet people.
Along with Craigslist, I’ve had a lot of success with Padmapper over other listing sites like domu and hotpads.

Where do handsome/interesting single men in their 40s live in Chicago? Asking for a friend. 😉
Probs Lincoln park or old town. Wicker is younger skewed

@CW1 Are there many of you? Or are you the only one? Seriously asking. For the friend.
Please note all the neighborhoods listed here are 85% white, with exception of Pilsen, which is gentrifying. I would encourage you to expand your horizons and look at neighborhoods where you actually have neighbors that don't look like you. Most white ad professionals in Chicago don't care about this, but it just takes one AM to finally say enough is enough and check out great places like Hyde Park, bronzeville, Bridgeport, China Town and others
Well most of there neighborhoods weren’t 85% white just like 5-10 years ago... ie Logan Square. My mom grew up there when she came to the states.
Hey op, just moved here a few months ago from bk. Logan sq is where i was directed and moved into. But now that ive had a chance to explore (prior to lockdown) i would also reco wicker and Lincoln square.
It's no Burger King as you say.

Well good news that Leo Burnett hiring! After all the layoffs there it’s a surprise to hear.
Rising Star
Maybe not but plenty of layoffs before in multiple rounds
Just don’t go around gentrifying our neighborhoods.
Thanks IP1! Great advice
Depending on if or how much you may be worried about crime, you may also find benefit from downloading the Citizen app - will show you events over a 12-to-24 hour period as reported from the police scanner, and can help identify some of the patterns and hot spots.
Great tip, thank you!
