Hi All,
Persistent Systems is giving 10% variable on gross annual CTC. HR says you would receive minimum 70% of variable pay every month and remaining 30% will credited once a year at the end.
Does anyone has idea on this? Can I believe this and include 70% variable in my take home

What you should charge depends on your market. NYC and SF are different than ATL, for example. (In SF as a senior with a good book you could probably land 1000/day...800/day on the lower end).
I don’t know if you’re “crazy”. But I believe the freelance market isn’t what it was 2-3 years ago. I’m in NYC with experience at Wieden, BBDO, Goodby and other “big names” and some months you can barely land a pharma gig.
If your job is making you miserable, do what you gotta do. But I personally don’t think it’s the friendliest market to dive into freelance without a plan.
Freelance market was SHIT this year. Keep your job
It’s crazy not to freelance if you’re a badass. Don’t ask people on here for permission. That’s my advice. Don’t take it. (And charge what you want to make, and you’ll get it since you’re a badass.)
It’s not a bad idea if you’ve got the savings to support yourself for 6 months and truly invest in starting a business
For ref: At my last freelance agency gig, I was making about $42 but pretty sure I was underpaid. I have about 7 years experience, all of them working in adland. Any thoughts would be awesome! I know money is taboo, but I’m really in the dark here and don’t want to be underpaid.
It’s pretty saturated in NYC. Lots of CDs taking mid range gigs out from under the rank and file.
