Hey guys! I transfered to big law from a small firm where I had always worked with 1/2 Juniors who were working for me exclusively.

Now I share 7-8 juniors with a lot of people. I have problems with them taking work since they say they have too much on their plate, and thet dont produce quality deliveries in time (looks like they half ass it or dont invest time) (2/8 Juniors do fine)

I think they could push harder, but not sure how to handle the situation without a negative dinamic. Any tips?

As a junior, that there are certain seniors who I’d go the extra mile for (because they’re nice / appreciative of late nights / teach learning points) and some who I won’t - have you had time to build your reputation up internally with the juniors?

That would be a no. I am aware this is a factor...

Welcome to big law staffing. Too much work in a busy market and not enough bodies.

like

Maybe give them some examples and a time frame for how long something should take- if I had that I’d be able to better gauge if I can or can’t do something to the right expectations

like

Sometimes I do not set a deadline in stone (i.e. "lets review tomorrow or the next") and I think that might contribute to them pushing the work... I will try setting a clear deadline beforehand see if that helps

I do feel like I explain the topics at depth and give them the tools to succeed at the task though

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

Here’s some unsolicited advice for junior account folks: turning on your camera with your team and ESPECIALLY upper level management is a good thing, and still counts as “face time”. We’ve noticed that the more senior a call, the more faces we see. Be a leader, show up, and turn your camera on.

She does her job well, she takes directions well, but there is no real initiative with projects/tasks and I NEED a strong no.2 - I feel like I’m constantly coaching her and trying to support her, but I’m tired 😣
