Hey guys, I’m about to get my 2nd shot soon & really excited to go to the gym, etc. But, I have never been an active gym goer.

I want to join a fitness class/group to keep me accountable + socialize + learn new techniques. Any places or clubs you’d recommend? I’m in the dmv area for reference. Thank you :)

Associate on one of my projects swore by orange theory. He went every day after we left the client site last year, caught a class, and then would work late at the hotel just to make sure he fit the workout in. I went to the hotel, finished work and watched movies every night. Not sure if he was just a psycho about fitness or truly enjoyed/valued OT that much. Either way, it was impressive and gave me a good impression of OT without having ever stepped foot in one

Wow every…day 😦

Never done it but my friends love orange theory

I second orange theory! It’s the only thing that keeps me accountable and consistent with my workouts.

I have the unlimited monthly membership which I think is around $160. I go 5 days a week, so the unlimited made the most sense for me.

Solidcore

I liked Switch Playground. You pair up with a partner through a series of workout stations (about 18 of them). Definitely say keeps you accountable as you’re working out with someone else. Check it out

Sorry I realized this is only in NY. Disregard if not from Ny

The next role can include
C#,

DevOps / Ansible,
Or more Azure Synapse & Databricks

How would you rate your ratios for work, play, and rest?

My life's mostly been 85% work/serious stuff (includes academia), 10% rest, and 5% play.

I've only started to learn to rest more this year and learning to accept lower productivity (was part of the hustle culture).

Q: How do I learn the concept of play? Didn't have that in my childhood growing up. All serious, no fun. Has anyone transitioned successfully?

I feel like a boring, old lady 😔😒

What is your definition of play?

Does anyone actually wake up refreshed and if so can you share your secrets? It doesn’t matter how much or how little sleep I get I wake up feeling like I got hit by a train. I run 3-4x per week and have lost ~20lbs in the past few months so I should be getting enough vitamin D and have a healthy diet. Don’t drink coffee or other caffeine (unless herbal tea on occasion counts). I wear an eye mask to block out light. Tried melatonin but it gave me nightmares. I feel like I’m losing hope on sleep

Wondering if anyone struggles with a similar problem I do - I was a volleyball player/serious athlete from 10 until I finished playing my senior year of college. I then worked as a full time volleyball coach/assistant director of operations for a super competitive club in south Florida. I changed career paths for stability and money increase, but now I find when I’m super stressed at work I avoid the gym. I normally go 4-6 days per week and consider it an outlet, but now seems to add stress.

Any good detox diets that good to try out and not horrroble for your body? I want to curb some sugar cravings and bad eating habits over the past year. Has anyone done one they liked? I was thinking of starting a 3 day detox then go into 7days of a white meat/fruit cleanse for a week. Then just stop eating like a complete child on holiday after those are done 😅 any advice on what helped you get past the cravings and level set would be helpful!
