Hi battles, I’m currently in the reserve unit and mobilized under title 10 order. I’m green on everything, and want to get my packet in for BLC and SGT However, I have been getting different answers if I need BLC to get promoted. My unit has been working slow and not responding appropriately..... Can I get an answer here about what I should do?

Biggest disservice the military (USMC in particular is bad for this, I think) has done for me is give me what I would almost describe as a “fear” of managers, senior managers, PPMDs etc. I know it’s irrational, no manager is gonna act like a salty Ssgt, but I always feel like I’m walking on thin ice.

5 years away from Reserve retirement. O3, O4 in 1-2 years. Retire as an O4. Anyone else been sticking it out and at the firm? Feel like it's going to be hard. I almost got out, but then when I stopped seeing the extra $600 a month, and realized what I would be losing with free healthcare and a pension...just doesn't seem like it's the best move to get out. Start grad school next year too. My commander is awesome and the unit is flexible, which is why I think I could stay. Just don't want it to hurt my consulting career. Thoughts?

So here's where I'm at....I have a job that's VERY stable but a manager that well, manages poorly. The manager is there for the foreseeable future, there is no room for promotion or a possible shift change for another 2-4 years. Opportunity is seemingly presenting itself elsewhere, but I'm worried about the stability of the new place. I've seen that they just had workers retire after 35-40 years and the reviews are at 82% recommended work place. My goal is to get to 1st shift. Thoughts?
