I have 120k Amex points, what is the best possible conversion rate that I can get? Plain cash back is really bad, I am thinking of transferring to some partner airlines. Thoughts?
So have a job offer from delta paying 80k and a job offer at eTrade offering around 110k. I like the position at delta much more, but I like the salary at eTrade. Any suggestions ?
My wife and I would like to retire at age 50 (or earlier). We’re in our early 30s. We’ve been maxing out 401ks and IRAs for years and started contributing 20k a year into a taxable account to start filling the gap since we can’t access 401k until 55. At what point should we be reducing 401k/IRAs and redirecting to the taxable account? Otherwise our income balloons late in life. Curious how others are managing this.
Turning 30 and just feel like I’m getting dumber. I am a smart person (at least relatively) and work at MBB but lately I just feel as though I have not been as sharp as I normally am. I spent the last week drinking and going out till 3am every night (NYC) so that doesn’t help but are there any tips to regain my form and just become smarter?
Can someone who has been through Slalom interview phase please guide me on what to expect during an Interview with the Managing Director(MD) ? How should I prepare for this? I hear MD one is formality but I am not taking any chances. I am going for a Senior Principal - D & A in UK. I already did 2 interviews, 1 upcoming with Practice Area Lead tomorrow and MD on Friday. All tips and guidance highly appreciated. Thanks
Is it pretty usual to go from big 4 M to MBB? Or do they not consider Big 4 Consulting as valuable experience?
What are some small firms with entrepreneurial gusto giving MBB legit competition? And I don’t mean old school traditional shops charging $1,300 per hour per resource.
Thoughts on using an offer from another big 4 to transfer groups within your current firm? How often does your firm tell you to just leave vs. granting the transfer?
If I directly bring a new project or client into the agency, is it reasonable to ask for % commission of their SOW? Or at least, some sort of bonus?
Can you un-reject a job offer? Got offered a job out of industry but it was lighter than expected. I’m looking bc I’m way overqualified for my current gig and bored to death. I didn’t want to step down in pay or benefits though…. The difference isn’t huge but now I’m reconsidering taking the slight hit…. My current boss has recently decided to nitpick everything I do bc I have “too much experience.” I’m too good of a writer, etc. I feel like I’m losing my mind.
If you plan to leave your firm and your manager asks you why you're leaving, what do you say? I have a legitimate non-bridge-burning reason unrelated to comp or simply "big tech is better" reason. I have asked for more client facing exposure and haven't gotten it cause weird reasons, which was the factor that caused me to look for exits in the first place. But I'm not sure if I should bring this up. Should I just be vague and say "looking for a new chapter"?
Leave a secure but underpaid, full time, toxic af job or go freelance and get the title bump at and indie agency? Healthcare etc scares the $hit out of me
NYC WFH colleagues: Would highly recommend Tagmo Treats, a small-batch Indian food delivery service in NYC for quality, healthy, GF/veg varied Indian food delivered home. Check out menu/order here: https://bit.ly/2VorW4D
Was contacted by a recruiter from West Monroe Partners, M&A role. I haven't ever heard of this firm before. Any insights? Positive/Negative experiences? Glassdoor etc paints a pretty vanilla picture...
Client layoffs today. About 10 people. Folks onsite described it as a funeral. Most of the client team is outsourced. Feels bad man...
Been in this game for years and I'm still not clear, is Big 4 Advisory/Consulting considered Tier 3? Is this because we don't generally do strategy-related work?
DM me if you are looking for a referral at PwC.

When building your resume, as a big 4 M, what’s the best way to describe ‘an action I took that led to the success of the project / specific result’? I suppose managing people on the project isn’t specific enough. What’s a specific, banger of a pointer in your view from an MBB resume screen perspective?
