Lol bold of you to assume we all know what we’re doing. Most of us are just good at pretending we do. Staff, seniors, managers, sr managers, even partners don’t know everything. Just make sure to speak up when there’s a topic you are sure with and project it. Whether walking staff through cash testing, or how to navigate the software etc. and similarly, if you don’t know it, discreetly message your peer or senior what they meant by x or y. Specially if the manager or partner is on site/in the call. You need to show off. That’s part of the game. That’s how you gain visibility in the round tables, that’s how you get people on your side. Nobody is gonna speak well on your behalf or on your snapshots if things are done secretly and unbeknownst to them, or not visible to whoever is reviewing you. You need to kiss a$$. Just don’t overdo it as there’s a balance between, wow he’s good and wow he’s super annoying. You don’t need to have the best ratings. You don’t want to have the best ratings. They’re the first ones to get burnt out. You don’t need to be the smartest in the room. Be the excel go-to person in the office. Be the aura champion. Be a good mentor to interns; word goes around quick. There’s a ton of other avenues you can take to get your name out there.

Even if you do get put on a PIP it’s not the end of the world. I’ve known many people who have been laid off and ended up in a much better position down the line. Just do your best but also realize that you are in control. If it’s not a fit as you say then start looking to optimize fit either within your current Big 4 or another place. The opportunities outside of Big 4 are vast. Don’t get caught with blinders on thinking it’s the only place you can be aucxessful

How long have you been here? Don’t be discouraged. I’m sure you’re doing better than you think you are. Just try your best and ask questions.

As you get your snapshots, make sure you have conversations with the reviewers to know what you can do better and try to improve. Also asking for real time feedback on EGAs is helpful.

I am now an A2, and no Im doing worst than I thought via my snapshots. On clients where I lead calls, help AC, And show a knowledge its like they said youre only partially there. I know expectations are higher now but literally feel as if my team just wants to see me fail

I’m in Financial services audit

I feel like I am a punching bag to some of my senior managers

Im good mentor but all I know is Word spread around Im not smart and it spread like wild fire

Currently a senior 3 at EY and hope to get promoted to manager next year by October. Is it better to move over to BCG after promotion as a project leader? Or would that not be a lateral move as a EY manager?

My firm recently merged with another firm, and it is starting to feel distinctly more “corporate.” All of their decisions are metric-driven now—billables, realization rates, client and matter origination, business development hours. I’m missing the community feeling of the old firm, when I was more than just a number. Any advice on how to adapt? Is this just COVID burnout?
