I started full time at an agency mid pandemic so have never once worked in the office. I find myself working 50+ hour weeks even from home. Everyone who says "I can't wait to be back at the office" - are they really serious? To tack on commute time and public transit anxiety, wake up at the crack of dawn. Will working from the office somehow decrease the work load and increase productivity? Genuinely curious who wants to go back and why.

Unpopular opinion but reality.
It doesn’t matter if you are the best version of yourself, if you work constantly every day to be the best, towards yourself and others. You need someone to give you a chance to prove that to them. You can be the best damn candidate for a job but if they don’t give you a chance to interview, it doesn’t mean a damn thing.

Pros and cons of paying off mortgage of rental property earlier? We have $149K on it and ~370K on primary residence. We have no other debt, and HHI is $300K. If we have another kid, we’ll estimate needing to purchase a bigger home for ~$850K. We have the liquidity now to pay off the mortgage of rental property but am afraid we’ll need that liquidity for down payment in a year. We have a buffer, but not enough to do both in 1-2 years. Hello! I need advice. I have 5 years of digital marketing, project and team management experience. I’ve been doing design work w/o realizing ux/ui was a career since the beginning. I didn’t keep record of those projects but I created a portfolio to show proof of knowledge/skill but it’s not lengthy. I know how to use design software, wireframe, prototype, and I do feel like a lot of my knowledge/ skills are relevant. Should I be going after Jr, mid or senior lvl UI roles?

I managed to be hired by a really good company so naturally the impostor syndrome in me is now in full gear. Designers, have you ever been in a position where you’re pretty much taking the lead on all aspects of the project? I.e writing project briefs, putting together workshops with client, and on top of that you’re the one actually working the outcome of the project? For all the senior designers - how do you stay inspired to keep leveling up in career-related skills?

I like my job and career, but often find myself avoiding learning new tools or skills (not things I actively need for my job, but ex: new Figma tools that I have no real use for in my job that requires self-guided learning, etc). I'd rather spend my free time on passion projects away from my computer, but I'm worried I'll fall behind in my career if I continue coasting on just YOE. Advice?

I have just scheduled a final round interview for a design strategist role (my first two interviews were behavioral with two potential teammates and then the team lead). I was told I will be doing an “immersive” design sprint with several team members as my final interview.
