Did you tell your new firm that you have already signed a new lease and made logistical plans / commitments for the relocation?
If you haven’t, you should. Firms often shift start dates due to business conditions / projections, but your leaders are also people (mostly). If you explain your situation and that it puts you in a hardship condition, there’s at least a reasonable chance that they will adjust your start date to the original date, or at least something in between. Barring that, you may be able to request a relocation package or other assistance based on the economic hardship you’re placed under.
