Hey, how to prepare for case interviews? Too many times I’ve been told I lack critical thinking.

On the critical thinking piece, expand on your use of assumptions for a case interview that ultimately highlights your thought process for coming up with a solution. For example, how many balloons can you fit in an NYC skyscraper? To interviewer: Let’s assume this building has 100 floors, and is 10,000 sq ft. per floor with each floor at 10 ft. Let’s also assume that each balloon takes up roughly 1 sq. ft of space. This would equate to a total of 10,000,000 balloons to fill the skyscraper. That being said, to account for spacial differences among floors, subtract 1,000,000 balloons. Critical thinking: Accounting for spacial differences among floors.

Interviewing with a small internal strat team (currently 3 FTEs) led by the CSO. One VP was awesome, Ex MBB really energetic/excited is with 1.5 yrs in tenure. Then interviewed with the other VP and Manager. They weren’t great, overall not quite at the same level as the VP in terms of professionalism and pedigree. They were very tactical and felt more like middle managers without vision. The latter two seem to have grown up in the company (3-4 years)

Men’s hair style/ facial hair, and interviewing at Big4 poll: 1. Ok to have longer hair 2. Only medium/short hair is professional 3. Trimmed beard & mustache ok 4. Only mustache ok 5. Long beards ok 6. Clean shaven only 7. Hair style/facial hair have no relevance

Had a lateral interview that seemed to go well, with an invite for a second interview just 4 days later. Said they'd be in touch. After one week I followed up writing sample. They thanked me and said they'd be in touch "next week" (which was this last week). Never heard back. Any advice on what to do next? Don't want to be annoying, and don't know what a typical time-frame is.

In house interviews: I finished a final round of interviews and was expecting a final decision after the interviews. How do you keep from getting discouraged while job hunting? I’ve had 3 final round interviews in the past month and gotten passed over each time. I’ve been at a startup for a month now. I’m pretty certain my co-manager has been purposely withholding information from me when I ask for clarity on a process or general company information. Other than that, I like my role and company so far. What’s the best way to approach a situation like this? Pretty certain it’s because of insecurity and wanting to look better but I really am not a fan of these antics and it makes me question how long I want to stay here.
