Hey,

I interviewed for a practice manager position. This was an interview with the director. This went well. She now wants me to meet with the staff and doctors in person for a second round.

Anyone that’s ever done this, can you let me know what to expect? The types of questions to ask the doctors. How I should be interacting with the staff as their prospective manager?

Second interviews are always a good sign. They’re probably checking if you’re the right personality fit for the role. I’m imagining this is a medical practice and the physicians play a leadership role in the practice. You should interact with them the same way that you interacted with the director. That’s what warranted your second interview. You’ve got this!

What is your current role?

Practice coordinator

You should ask what they are looking for in a leader and coworker in their branch. It shows you care and helps uncover their true needs to function successfully on a daily basis. Good luck :)

This is great feedback. Thank you!

I always ask them what success looks like in this role in 6 months to 1 year. Trying to get a handle on what the expectations are from different perspectives in the practice is important because as a PM you answer to everyone. Know what your MDs expect, office managers or billers, nurses, and what your administrator and clinical managers expect as well.

Hello everyone, I have posted before about a situation I am in with a potential employer. I received an offer from a hospital, I accepted it with the director, signed some paperwork for a background check and sent it back. It has been 3 weeks so far, the person I spoke to said HR should’ve sent me consent forms already, I’ve dug through my email and found nothing, I’ve reached out to HR as well but they won’t speak to me since I am not an employee. What do I do? I’m stuck in limbo.

Does anyone have advice on pivoting away from hospital administration and into other opportunities within healthcare (i.e. consulting/strategy/program management etc.)? I've been a service line administrator for 3 years and working at a large hospital system for 6 (post MHA) but I'm not getting anywhere when I apply for roles outside of hospital operations. I get called back for other hospital ops roles but I can't even get a phone interview when I branch out...

I feel like all director level positions have 5 years in the posting, but a lot of my peers with the same experience are already in director level positions. Are they just lucky? Am I jumping the gun? Do I just need to stick it out?

I am in need of some advice. I am interested in revenue cycle and would like to become more educated. Is there a certification or something to get more knowledgeable?
