Hey, I’m a recent electrical engineer grad who currently is working full time for about 3 months. My goal is to get to work in a top tech company (Microsoft, ibm, Amazon,…etc). I don’t have the coding background that is required for software roles. Anyone knows what are the best noncoding roles to go for in these companies that relate to my major and what to recommend doing. Thank you!

I think ops is usually an option for people...or well, what kind of tech roles do you want to do?

I would consider customer success or sales. Do you plan on gaining coding experience?

I would also recommend customer success. I have had some friends in these roles and its a really good way to get your foot in the door. After some time there then you can pivot to something else.

I’m planning on learning coding while working in the new role and learn new skills. Roles that I would be interested in are associate product manager, data analytics, and similar roles.

My question is, what are the most ideal technical skills that a top tier Solutions Engineer should have? I'd like to hone my skills on new tech, specifically things that can help advance my knowledge as an SE and create career security.

I do have have in-house experience on my resume via a client secondment.

Can I get your opinion on L5 offer (strategy ops, HCOL major city)?

Base: 184K
Target bonus: 28K
Equity: 81K Y1
Sign on: 25K (/4 = 7.5k Y1)
Total: ~300k Y1 (I’m amortizing the sign on)

“2nd offer” after l moved up slightly on base. Worried base is too low in this environment and is a 15% base cut on where I’m coming from. Not sure if I can push any more.

7.5 YOE, no MBA, ex consultant, work in mid sized pre IPO tech (current tc= 260k cash with, 700k equity (??). My WLB is also amazing.

Why don't the Big4s just declare flexi working or permanent remote working.
What's stopping them?
All have already tested the WFH model and I am sure it has been successful.

Wouldn't it be better where one makes the decision to go to office or to WFH.
Life becomes much more simpler.
I get to choose which city I want to live, I get to manage my life and family well.

Have always found my team working diligently and productively during WFH.
Don't understand why is still there a hesitation.
