Expecting a baby this summer. Should I still be looking for other job opportunities? EY has a very generous paternity leave if you’ve been with the firm for 1+ years, but not sure if I would have the same opportunity to take 2-3 months leave if I switch jobs. Can I potentially work parental leave into negotiations?
Need some advice: For context I’m an engineering student - I’ve gotten a role as a business analyst for a health tech startup that just raised their series A (10M) and is rapidly scaling. They brought me on part time until I finish up school in the spring. I negotiated to begin my vesting schedule now and I absolutely love the company and product-only problem is that I am losing all motivation for school…especially since it’s engineering. I’m going to finish-but how do I make it easier to balance
Pregnant, just got a new job offer. I need to drop the pregnancy bomb now (I’m 24 weeks along). Really looking for any advice on how to say this in negotiations. I really want to see if I can negotiate our maternity leave. Also want to break the news in a way where they don’t feel deceived.
Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Looking for a NYC/NJ non profit to be on the board for. Interests include healthcare, education and supporting female entrepreneurs. Though I’d see if anyone has any advice on finding this role
There is a paralegal (not mine) in my firm that is making everyone miserable. She cries at her desk, complains about being overworked and is rude to the other paralegals, staff, and a couple of the attorneys. She is so disrespectful to me that I recently asked to work from home for a month (I am dealing with some other mental health issues and she is too much). My request was granted, and last Friday I was in the office to make sure several motions were filed properly. Continued in comment:
Anyone have experience with Oliver Wyman? Thoughts on the people, culture, & work? Background in healthcare & financial industries. TIA.
Got in a car accident and havent been sure how to deal with getting care. I use the VA and they paid for my ER visit, some medication, and a primary visit. I need to see a chiropractor but I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do since that's the only insurance I use and they take months to get any appointments in presently. It was the other drivers fault but I have to come out of pocket until care is completed then haggle w/ em. Do I wait on the VA? Just pay cash to someone local? Recs?
What is the maternity/paternity leave policy at your firm (in the US)? EY is 16 weeks for both. What is the ideal amount of time for leave in your opinion?
Have any of you quit to take a break - 3 month or a 6 month sabbatical to pursue other interests or just to clear your head and figure out what’s next. How easy was it to find a job after the break and how did you manage your health insurance? Any other things to keep in mind when considering a sabbatical beyond money?
Looking at buying a single family home in Austin to live in, and curious if anyone has a recommendation on home insurance providers with the best rates and what to watch out for when shopping around?

Thoughts on paying job loss mortgage insurance? Currently don't have one, have owned property for a few years, but been thinking about it....
I recently switched employers. I used to have Kaiser Permanente health insurance & loved my doctors. Have been with them for almost 3 years. My new insurance isn’t so great, but because of employer contribution, it’s affordable to go that route. Has anyone paid for health insurance out of pocket? Thinking of just paying for it to keep KP, but it’s a difference of ~$200. Or just find new doctors?
I got a super small crack on my windshield last night (top right corner and smaller than a dime). Insurance covers it and offered to send someone over, but not until 11/15. Will it keep expanding from now until then if I keep driving? Don’t drive much, but still need my car occasionally. Thank you.

I feel like I'm giving away my mental and physical health to this job and it doesn't matter. There's so much drama and it's so political and I just don't want to do this anymore. But idk what I can do instead. Ugh, happy Friday I guess

I’m new to investing and putting money aside for retirement. I started putting money into my 401k for the past 2 years (though I may need to increase the amount since it’s half the IRS limit). I looked into a Roth IRA but I don’t qualify- where else can I put my money? I have emergency funds already covered. Thanks.
For those of you who travel for work regularly… how do you do it with kids? I take an average of one 5-day trip a month. I am due early next year and very concerned about being able to travel for work. I don’t have the option of bringing baby along or bringing baby and a family member or nanny.

Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.
