Hi fishes, in urgent need of your suggestions.
One of my friend is having offer from Oracle Pune for software developer role in Oracle store team. but he does not have clear idea of the role whether it will be operations, support or development work.
Does anyone know what kind of work is there in store team. Also, is it possible to change the project once we get inside?
Urgent suggestions required...
Thanks!

Congrats! I’m 6 weeks and think we are in a very interesting time since we are working remotely possibly throughout our entire pregnancies. No one will notice when we have to frequently urinate, no one will see our bellies, no one will spot morning sickness...it seems like it is entirely up to us how early / late we want to reveal the news!
Congratulations!!!
Sometimes depends on the project work - I was about to start a new project and knew the go-live date was within a week of my due date (pre Deloitte career at other Big 4), told the partner before project started as I wanted to give him the out to find someone else - he didn’t want to tell the client because they really liked me and I was a selling point on the project - so he knew right away, but he didn’t tell the client until about 5 months along because he couldn’t find a good replacement for me. My biggest issue was I figured the client just thought I was getting fat and I finally told him I had to wear obvious maternity clothes and that while he may not notice the difference, every woman on the team was going to know immediately. - keep in mind, it’s not anyone’s business but they can make it easier on you to manage if you are comfortable sharing.
Congratulations! It really depends on when you feel comfortable telling them! I had to tell my team pretty early because I had really bad morning sickness (all-day sickness really; it’s such a misnomer) and it was affecting my ability to focus. I told my client a little after I had passed my first trimester, but only because it ended up coming up in conversation with the engagement partner while the client was there
Ugh, I’m so sorry to hear that! I seriously don’t know what I even ended up eating during the first trimester because everything made me feel queasy 🤢
I hope you feel better soon (mine dropped off around 13~14 weeks)!
20 weeks for telling both. I was tiny and you could barely tell before then, and I didn’t think there was any benefit to me to telling earlier. And 20 weeks out is plenty of lead time to prep for a loa.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
With layoffs underway, I am telling EVERYONE right now. 😂 (I’m currently at 22 weeks.)
In all seriousness, I told my team at around 9 weeks, which was earlier than I wanted. I felt like my hand was forced because this was pre-WFH and I wasn’t comfortable traveling anymore.
I had worked with this team before, though, so the only real thing holding me back was my own concern about telling them and then losing the baby. It really all depends on your comfort level with both your pregnancy and your team.
People generally feel crummier laying off someone expecting a baby, male or female. But when you lay off a pregnant woman, you’re essentially forcing her out of the labor market for longer than a non pregnant person(hard to get hired while showing - not right, but real) and (in most states) the chance of a compensated maternity leave. I resigned a job before I realized I was pregnant and ended up qualifying for 0 compensated maternity leave with my new employer. If they’d had less than 50 employees, even unpaid FMLA wouldn’t have been guaranteed.

Whenever you are comfortable. I told my manager when I was 6 weeks pregnant. Told the others after 10/12 weeks because the workload was insane
Baby 1: I was client facing at a big defense contractor with too many people on the beach, so I told my very supportive manager at 8wks. We would both admit he worked harder to keep me staffed.
Baby 2: working for a psychopath at a non-profit. Told HR, then him, at 32 weeks. He was a nightmare over it and literally never said congrats.
The right time will be different by situation.
Oh my god sorry that you had to deal with that!

20 weeks. We had friends get very bad news at a 20 week ultrasound so I wanted to pass that mark before telling work. We also waited until then to tell my ILs because they are Catholic and we would have terminated if we got bad news and I didn’t want to deal with all their judgement over that.
