All these comments are reassuring for me, thank-you💛. I'm week 6 and am missing the coffee sooo bad.
I know it’s expensive but I actually think buying an ember mug is very worth it! It helped so much during my pregnancy slowly sip coffee throughout the day that stayed warm, and then once the baby was born also helped a lot since it was hard drinking a whole cup of coffee in one sitting before it got cold
After the bebe arrives, these Ember mugs are fabulous for warming a bottle or breastmilk when you’re at a restaurant!
I drank a cup a day. Read expecting better. It’s gonna be fine.
Yes, I need my caffeine! It’s ok to have 1 cup. Check with your MD.
This is insane, drink the coffee. There’s a book out there… I wish I remembered the name, but it goes over all the studies as to why pregnant women have these (odd) rules and you will quickly realize a lot of it is over cautious. The part about caffeine, I think it was at 6 cups of coffee where the concern started (don’t quote me but it was crazy high like that). If anyone knows the name of the book from the top of their head drop it here. She’s the author that does Cribsheet which I liked too.
yes thank you!! great book
Read expecting better from Emily Oster! She’ll give you the data-driven facts.
I drank a cup ever day
Did you drink coffee while working? If so how much? Did your Doctor recommend cutting coffee? My first appointment is early next week so trying to figure it out until then. Any help is much appreciated.
I drank 2 cups of coffee a day for both of my pregnancies and noticed no ill effects. I did limit myself to 2 tho because any more than that and the baby would freak out lol. But I was so exhausted that I needed a little caffeine to help get me through the day!
I drank one cup a day, no issue.
I was told no more than 2 cups. I did 2 cups thru entire pregnancy.
If you do decide to cut back because you want/need to, you can try ordering half caf/half decaf. My doc said it was fine and didn’t give me a limit, but I wanted to keep it lower than my usual intake and that trick helped me feel like I wasn’t depriving myself.

Two healthy babies and I drank coffee throughout both pregnancies. 1-2 cups per day.
I drink a cup a day
My doctor also told me to limit caffeine to 200mg, but advised to back off of it the last few weeks if I could just to make postpartum easier. 200mg is actually a lot. I had three babies, and went through busy season pregnant three time (one in second trimester, one in first, and one in my last trimester). My typical intake is a venti latte in the morning and a Coke at lunch, and that brought me to 195. If I subbed out a second latte for the coke I went half caffeine, which took me to like 225. I obviously didn’t do that every day but I did it plenty. All was well.
I didn’t want coffee when I was pregnant but I did enjoy my one can of Coca Cola per day
I drank regular and decaf coffee during both my pregnancies, except during the first trimester when it made me nauseous. My kids are 6 and 2 and half and had zero issues from my coffee consumption. Enjoy the coffee!
True story - with my first pregnancy, I cut out caffeine completely, cold turkey, during busy season. I was miserable! I don't recommend it. Every doc I've ever talked to has said the 200mg is fine...and I think I read somewhere that the actual risk doesn't apply until you get up to like 600mg a day or something much higher. So with my subsequent pregnancies, I researched how much caffeine was in my favorite drinks - Kcup at home, starbucks peppermint mocha, a can of mountain dew, etc, and I fit it into my day. Most days were a cup from my keurig in the morning, and then either another kcup or a mountain dew in the afternoon. I was well within the guidelines. If I was going to starbucks, sometimes I'd do half-calf, or a small. Just stay within the limits, but there's no point in torturing yourself unnecessarily.
Thank you all! I deeply appreciate the feedback!
I drank the max allowed and i still was super exhausted. Growing a baby takes all of the energy
I drank 200mg a day and took short naps. That seemed to help. Pregnancy was exhausting during the first and third trimesters.
