Hey ladies I need help choosing between my first luxury bag. I just want an everyday tote to use for running errands and possibly items for baby. I’m looking at purchasing the LV Neverfull or the Gucci Ophidia Medium Tote… LV is overpriced unfortunately but I still feel like the style is a classic and afraid the Gucci one could go out of style quickly. Let me know your thoughts. TIA!

Do ittt! I have it in blue 😌

Personallyyyy I don’t love the monogram look. But that’s just my opinion. Idk I think it’s dated and I also wouldn’t want people to know what brand my bag is just walking around. I spent a few hours strolling through various stores and comparing styles and prices and I fell love Gucci because the quality was outstanding. I suggest this bag. I have the matching wallet and it stunning and makes you feel high class EVERYDAY. And no it’s not obviously Gucci but the right stylish people people will know and give you complements 😉

Now that's a gorgeous bag. I love her!

Gucci logo hardware is so tacky to me so I like the LV.

If looking for totes without logos or prints on them I’d recommend this YSL one https://www.ysl.com/en-us/shopping-saint-laurent-e-w-in-supple-leather-809155990.html?targetid=pla-972815666371&location=9026942&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_tW65I-P-AIV9GpvBB3AOQZyEAQYASABEgIpg_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

SBPM1 I just got an organizer for mine and I was really missing out!! This makes it even better!

I like the Gucci one just bc I see the neverfulls so often that I rarely remember it’s a designer bag at all

like

This!!!! They’re so common now

I like the LV. After putting this off for 5 years I settled on this. My bestie got the Neverfull MM

Please get the LV. They're becoming an investment brand with great second hand value.

If I choose this bag should I get the pm or mm.. I hear the mm can still be a bit too big

That Gucci isn’t going out of style, IMO because it’s a classic print. But my concern for you is that the straps on these are so thin, that your shoulder bears the brunt of the weight of the bag and it can be a lot so just be mindful, your stuff, baby stuff it can add up. It’s called “neverfull” because you better not fill it up LOL.

funnylike

Honestly, neither because I’m not a fan of Gucci’s monogram and because the Neverfull is seen so much. If I had to pick between the two I’d go with the Neverfull since it’s a classic.

I actually went with Tory Burch’s Ella tote for my tote bag of choice. It’s extremely durable and I use it as an overnight bag as well.

I think it comes down to preference. I'm not a fan of monogram prints at all but if I had to choose, I'd go with the Neverful because it's the most understated of the two.

Also, there are a ton more luxury brands (if we're talking about quality and price point) than these particular brands. I think their value is in the name recognition more so than the bag design, but I've always been an alternative kind of girl.

like

Yea, I'm an understated type girl who likes things to be classic but with "IYKYK" energy--but I know some people like to be a little more outspoken with their personal fashion. Someone else linked a beautiful black leather Gucci that's more my style. Something about advertising for brands with my body doesn't sit right with me. I don't think brand=style and monogram print just shouts "look at me" in an overt way that I try to avoid.

like

What about the Chanel canvas tote or the Christian Dior tote? I have the classic LV neverfull, CD tote and a few Chanel large totes and bags. I rarely use my totes for everyday shopping but more so for weekend, overnight and vacation/travel. If you’re looking for a classic I’d choose the LV or CD and lean towards LV. It can be used as an everyday bag but you’d be testing those straps. G’luck on your decision!

likesmarthelpful

I like structured bags. The Neverfull isn’t so I returned it. I purchased it before LV’s huge price increase. I’ve been considering a tote bag to throw all my kids’ stuff in since we’re always on the go. I actually really like the Gucci one! I recently just switched over to Gucci. LV is too damn expensive and not worth it to me anymore.

Get the MM. The GM is huge!

Also, try fashionphille as a pre-loved option.

like

I have the MCM tote and I love it! Very durable! However if I had to choose I’d choose the Gucci bag because I see less people with it and it will
Hold value over time.

I am not a fan of gucci monogram, it looks tacky to me. I’ve had my LV NF (damier) for over a decade and it’s held up well, although I only use it for travel now. For an understated look and something more refreshed but still monogrammy, I’d look into Goyard.

like

I say start with a classic LV or goyard. I don’t thin goyard is as durable as LV but it is classic and stylish

LV Neverfull hands down! I have 3 that I rotated through when I traveled heavily & they never disappointed & held up well. Gucci isn’t going out of style but I like their smaller bags better.

I have both…and prefer the Gucci bag.

Is it a red flag as a candidate to ask if a company offers maternity leave? I was recently laid off, so I wasn't expecting to lose my job. We're planning on trying for a baby in the next year or so, so it's really important to me that my next job offers paid maternity leave.

The issue is that it's so rarely advertised on company web sites, but ultimately better maternity leave would sway my decision for a job. Is there a way to ask this tactfully? Or without raising red flags?
