Do you go to therapy? I usually take a long walk every day without my phone … knowing no one can reach me for work or personal really give me time to rebalance and think. Sometimes I just need to process without all the other stimulation around me. Perhaps some genuine time to yourself?

I can only expel stress out of my body physically. Started by biking to work when we were in the office (didn’t have time for gym, swapped train for exercise), now also invest in boxing weekly, and do a dance class and capoeira class on the weekends. It takes budgeting both time and money, but the consistency is the only reliable thing I’ve found in terms of psychological safety net. Additional things I do: turn off notifications on weekends/days off; minimize anxious phone use, replace it with a book or knitting or something else that can channel mindless attention; therapy; guard basic physical needs of food/sleep - the wheels will not fall off if you close your laptop for 20mins to eat in peace.

Less scrolling on your phone and eating well always help. Delete the apps that you drain energy into when you’re “killing time” and then fill that time with something that feels better like stretching, exercise, music, or reading!

Therapy. See if your work offers EAP to get help finding one. And the first few sessions are free so it’s trial without any downside. Sometimes a stressor in your life can trigger overall stress and anxiety at work and sort of paralyze you. Or vice versa. See what boundaries you can set for work that make time for self care. And remove life triggers that can set things off. Ie seeing things in your feed that show friends’ “perfect lives” or their pregnancy can often set that off. Starting each morning with meditation or yoga or stress relievers can also help the day be a bit easier. Hang in there. You’ll get through this!!! Also getting help to manage your stress now will also be great practice for when you’re pregnant (when other worries set in) and for when the baby is here when work and life balance is really put to the test. Sending hugs and prayers.

Expecting a baby this summer. Should I still be looking for other job opportunities? EY has a very generous paternity leave if you’ve been with the firm for 1+ years, but not sure if I would have the same opportunity to take 2-3 months leave if I switch jobs. Can I potentially work parental leave into negotiations?

I'm interviewing for a project manager position at a place that provides support for a prominent Bay Area tech company. I was approached by a recruiter from Planet Technology. The role is a 6 month contract, with the possibility of extension. What's the minimum hourly wage I'd need to make in order to live comfortably and afford health insurance in San Jose? I'm 30 years old w/out kids. My husband is currently unemployed so this is assuming that I'm supporting us both. Appreciate any advice!

Got in a car accident and havent been sure how to deal with getting care. I use the VA and they paid for my ER visit, some medication, and a primary visit. I need to see a chiropractor but I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do since that's the only insurance I use and they take months to get any appointments in presently. It was the other drivers fault but I have to come out of pocket until care is completed then haggle w/ em. Do I wait on the VA? Just pay cash to someone local? Recs?

I’m having a hard time staying motivated lately. Really apathetic about everything. Feels like I’m falling into a bad depressive slump. I’m getting more and more behind on work because I just can’t sustain focus for longer than a couple hours at a time. There’s no one to shift my workload to, and as much as the legal industry talks about lawyer mental health, it’s still a taboo topic. I know it’s the pandemic causing this downswing, but I don’t know how to shake myself out of this rut.

Hypothetical scenario, so put aside the how for a second: A bill is introduced in Congress that will require every able-bodied American to walk, run, or jog 1 mile a day. Assuming this can actually be tracked and fines enforced for people who violate this bill, are you for or against this bill?

I am feeling pretty miserable on my current project and it sometimes feels like there’s no end in sight. Team is great, client isn’t too bad but I always have a huge work load and I’m constantly stressed by tight deadlines. Don’t necessarily want to roll off because I really like my team, but am also not sure at what point to put my mental health before my career goals. Any advice would be appreciated.

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year. Have a wonderful school year!! God Bless All❤️
