Hey Londoners - Visiting from the US in November after a stopover in Paris. If I'm understanding correctly, I have to take a day 2 COVID test. Is it pretty easy to find a testing center? Have any of you been taking the Eurostar and dealing with this? Thanks!

Just stay in Paris where vaccination record is enough

Yeah, I think I'm going to skip London. This seems like a pain all for 5 days there.

Between now and November testing requirements are likely to change but it is easy to find testing centres here and you can also get tests sent in the post. I wouldn't order anything just yet but keep an eye out for updates. It may be that you will use an LFD going forwards but if that doesn't work they may scrap testing for all and do spot checks or the pcr test will remain for all

pretty easy, just book a day 2 test at any provider. some mail u the testing kit and u mail it back without having to go to the center, v convenient

like

You can do a Day 2 test in person @ a ton of spots. Look into Collinsons @ the O2. I think you can also do a Day 2 test @ Heathrow

You can do a lateral flow self test starting 4 October instead of a PCR. There are many places you can buy these online, as well as some stores, e.g. Boots pharmacy. You do the test yourself, upload a photo (or in some cases observed online) and they email you a certificate. This is much cheaper and easier than going to a test center that will charge an arm and a leg. I did this for my preflight tests back in August, and it was super easy. Don't let the perceived hassle put you off of seeing friends that you may not get a chance to see again for years.

You can do day 2 test on arrival day and there are test centres at the airport. Just book for an hour after arrival and you should be fine.

You have to book your test in advance of travelling, you need the code for your travel registration form. They deliver to hotels. A PCR self test now costs £40-50, test centres may charge more.

11,000 new covid cases today - most since January. Am I missing something? What ya’ll doin these days? I found the headline puzzling since the city technically could be a herd immunity scenario (state is at 69% vax but city is higher) and many unvaxxed already had covid. Do we think it’s mass events like concerts or back to the office or just the consequences of thanksgiving? Curious to hear your theories, not a dissertation on politics
