HI folks,
My current CTC is very low with respect to my YOE. CTC : 5.2 lpa
YoE : 4
Tech stack : Python , MLops
But now my manager has initiated H1B visa for me and the visa process is in progress.
Is it worth to wait till the H1B process completes to work in U.S (74k package) (or) should i make a switch immediately. ?

Time for a change! Go for it!
Choosing a workspace that isn’t traumatic is an act of self care
Ur not being dramatic. Career growth comes when you are in places that make you happy
Nobody should be crying in the middle of their work day
Not dramatic at all RUN lol. It won't get better
Remember all the reasons you applied for the new jobs and go ahead and give your two weeks. Change is scary and we all get used to comfort. If you’ve learned what you needed to from your current job, move on to something new and continue to learn and grow. G’luck!
Not being dramatic at all. If you're not happy, why stay?
If you've secured even better opportunities, why stay?
Work is just work. Do you and be happy.
Okay wow - this is helpful
Sometimes we’re tempted by “the devil we know” mentality but from what you’ve described it’s more than time to move on to your next adventure. That you have multiple offers means the universe is supporting you! Go for it and good luck!!!
I am so sorry about your experience. Do you want to expand a bit on what is happening? There a few items to consider: 2 years is the mean Pet to Threat cycle of black women in the workplace. I would highly recommend doing some introspection and laying out what happened and how you reacted in addition to seeking therapy. Why? Because in corporate America there is no true safe space - unless one gets very lucky or is a corporate drone. Based on my experience, it is about maneuvering situations with agility, gaining control of your narrative and developing tools to cope with work related adversity while keeping your dignity and sanity. Have you considered changing departments or groups? I am sending you a warm hug and huge congratulations on your job offers! I trust whatever you do will be beneficial for your career growth!
I just started reading more about this pet to threat cycle/ideology! I definitely have considered other departments and a few of the offers come from those apartments - my worry is creating a bad name for myself in my current role/department by just moving. (I’m being a little vague I know- just don’t want to get caught up)
Reclaim your time. And a better environment
Please go for it!
Move on sis.
This bowl is the best 🥲 thanks y’all
Girl, you don’t owe anybody/ anything, but your bank account!!! I left my firm on great terms, but after two years of chaotic management. I couldn’t be happier. Go for it! You’re not backing down, you’re looking after YOU. As black women, we must do that for ourselves.
If your job is causing anxiety and tears, it is most definitely not worth staying. As someone mentioned above, reflect on the reasons why you started to pursue other opportunities. Also, understand that an employee that stays with a company for longer than 2 years, decreases their earning potential by 50% in the long run. That Forbes article from 2014, is still relevant to this day. Right now, this market is being called the great resignation because employees are leaving in mass, for many reasons. Your mental health is key when it comes to your work environment because remember, you spend 40 hours a week with these people. I am a firm believer in doing whatever is best for you and never allowing yourself to become attached to the people, the employer, only your long term career goals. I hope this has helped and as someone who’s spent countless hours (over a period of time) crying in the bathroom (with 2 former employers), do whatever is in your best interest for self. 🙂
Plot twist…pretend to be a little (or a lot) less smart than you really are. They’ll feel safer when you go that route. You might also feel safer because you will free your brain to work on a side hustle that might allow you to eventually leave them for good.
If it’s more pay, clear career progression then go!!
These people are not worth your tears ❤️
