Yup! We usually counter with: do you mind sharing more background so we can adequately assess if this request falls within our budget?
Of course all the time, there are many people who do not know about marketing but think so, that is, many business owners use their faces to promote a new brand. There you already have the first thing out of place.
It's what freelancers suffer every day, sometimes we only do what the client wants and what the client wants is a creative disaster, but to tell the truth, they have surprised me more than once.
I feel like you're looking at me through a crystal ball, it's something that just happened to me with my boss, I work for a tire factory in the B2B sector, and my boss wants to do an ad about fat people rolling vs our tires, that is competition is fat people, everything is very bad.

Not only was there no product to promote, but there was no plan or strategy for the campaign either. It was just a big waste of time and money.
All the time. Half my job is redirecting them to solutions that could actually work. Lots of people think the first thing that pops into their head is brilliant.
