Hi! We were very successful when implementing around 5 months old. Because I breastfed my son, it was harder to reduce feedings by the ounce. So, I would nurse “on demand” during the day and started to reduce the time spent during night feedings. It only took a few days for him to get the hang of it. By night 3 or 4, he was fast asleep for 12 hours, almost to the minute 😅

I might wait a little longer too since my girl isn't big either. Thank you! 🙏

Our daughter did 12 hours at 8 weeks following TCB. When she says too early to sleep train before 5 mos, she means doing some of the CIO methods. If you use her newborn guide, the rule of thumb is #of hours = #of weeks old. Baby #2 is currently 8 weeks old and giving me 7 hours at night. But I’m not as consistent as I was with my first.

I like TCB a bunch. Those videos have been super helpful for me. I'll stick to it.

I read Babywise and my son was sleeping 7p to 7a by 10-12 weeks. It’s an eat/play/sleep routine. He was formula fed and a big baby, so that may have helped. I also stayed home that first year so I worked on his nap schedule and all naps were at home. He loved his sleep for years. He couldn’t stay up past 8 or 9 pm until he was like 7. He’s almost 10 now and is a night owl. Got to work on that before school starts! Anyway, he got all of his calories in during the day and slept all night. Minimal crying. I didn’t let him lay there and scream, ever. I did use a white noise machine and had room darkening shades. He also slept in his room in his crib by day 4. I couldn’t sleep with him in our room. He had pleasant associations with his room and crib, and didn’t use me as a sleep crutch.

It doesn’t! And that was my biggest misconception. I thought once we sleeptesined once, that was it forever.

like

Is this a method… cause my kids did that naturally, by 8 weeks it was 8 hours and topped out at 12-13 hours by 12 weeks and stayed that way. Good swaddle, dark room and slept in our room until 5 months.

Same here for my two who ate well in the day. Lots of daytime eating followed by long nights of sleep. No dream feeds. The third struggled with eating and didn’t sleep like this.

like

Around 3 months my son started sleeping 10-11 hrs, which was good enough for me. He was mostly bottle fed though so I understand that breast fed babies may not be up for that.

like

It can work for EBF babies. Mine who did it ate every 2-2.5 hours in the day at that age when we were together and 16 oz during day care hours.

First time expectant mom here. Do they say why you shouldn’t start sleep training until 5 months? In industry now. So, I’ll be back at work before 5 months 🥴

I chose 5 months because of my son’s weight. However, the book suggests 12 weeks.

This is my little furball Sheero. He always used to chase me with his Little feat, wagging his little tail all around the house. Whenever I used to be busy on my laptop with work, he just used to sit on my lap and sleep like a peaceful baby. He was such a good puppy. He is now resting with angles up in the heaven and I miss him a lot ❤️.

My mat leave ends next month and I am absolutely dreading it. I’m fortunate that my baby is easy going and sleeping well so my time with her has been great. I’ve been getting bad anxiety thinking about returning to work. I’ve seen women post about how they couldn’t wait to go back to work so I feel strange that I’m not like that. Anyone else been through this?
