Hey moms,
I’m moving to London with our 14mo. Anyone able to help me understand the daycare system there? Do y’all have a waitlist that I should get on? Do they expect baby to feed themselves?

Daycare is called “nursery”.

“Nursery” can refer to early years childcare in general or sometimes specific ones attached to the primary school. Some nurseries start below 1, others from 3+.

You can also go to a “childminder” who are regulated by Ofsted, the education regulator. Both nurseries and childminders are assessed according to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Wait lists etc depend on popularity of the specific provider. I’d look up reviews on your local FB a group; some reviews are also on other sites.

All 3/4 year olds receive 15 hours a week of free funding in term time. You may be entitled to more based on your needs.

I found this helpful when assessing options: https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Guide%20to%20childcare%20and%20early%20learning.pdf

I’ve been in a major struggle lately. The past 4 years I’ve had brain surgery, cousin committed suicide, mother had a stroke, and my grandmother fell and landed on her head last week. After my surgery, I was diagnosed with depression, OCD, PTSD, and severe anxiety. I’m officially epileptic and now limited to what I can do outside. Point is, it has been so hard to focus on work but I really do enjoy my job. I’ve had seizures on and off lately. Any advice?

What do you do about mean girls? My daughter (11- going into 6th) keeps having this girl make her feel like sh** in group text. Should I show the girl's mom's these messages? Other than saying my daughter shouldnt be around this person, is there anything I should do?

I read the texts and heard the stories - this girl just is rude and insecure and clearly has a thing for my daughter.

I've been on my inferility journey for so long and have made so many friends along the way. Now that I'm finally pregnant, I can't help but feel guilty because I got lucky and my friends are still struggling. How do I support a fellow sister who is still struggling while I'm pregnant? I don't want to feel like I'm rubbing it in or make them feel bad if I continue reaching out and checking in on them.

Just had my NIPT/Nuchal Translucency at 12w4d IVF pregnancy and the sonographer said everything looks fine but she wants me to come back in 5 weeks and then again a month later to do the scans again so she can get a clearer picture. She said baby is measuring slightly lower than it should, but it could be that doctors were a few days off on due date (is that a thing with IVF??). She also referred me to get a fetal echo at 20 weeks. Is this normal? I called OB, waiting for her to call me back.

I’m frustrated that I’m always expected to do everything for our LO since I’m working from home. Five days a week, I do all the drop offs and pickups. When the baby is napping, I prep all her bottles and solids to pack with for daycare. Today, on top of everything else I had to take our dog to the vet. My husband hasn’t even offered to do anything because it’s easier for me to do it.

Hey guys… I’m a case worker in child safety and I’m someone who loves being outdoors/dies at a desk all day. I’m hoping to organise that at least once a week I can go to a cafe and catch up on all my case notes that need to go into the system.
So far the only reason I’ve been told no is that “if you do then everyone will want to and then no one will be in the office” … how can I convince them that I work better out of the office and get this freedom & mental break for myself?

My 7.5 month old isnt interested in solids (I tried BLW and purees). He gags easily - twice the gagging ended up with him vomiting a bit of breastmilk from earlier. He doesnt hold food on his own; when willing to take a taste, he leans his forward and I have to hold food up for him. He was never was into putting things in his mouth either such as toys, even though he has two teeth. As a FTM, I’m stressed out as it seems like all other babies love food and are mouthing (cont.)
