I’m an inpatient RN and I’m looking to get out of the hospital setting bc of all you mentioned above. I’m not happy & I’m considering leaving my hospital altogether. I’m going to start putting my applications in to find something better. I’ve felt so stuck at the bedside, that I almost forget all the other things you can do as a nurse. Our hospital is going by the lean staffing model & it’s awful. The assignments are so heavy & it’s becoming more dangerous for patients & staff. And I’m very seriously considering leaving the professionals together if things don’t change for the better. We can speak up all we want, even through our union, & it seems like our concerns fall on deaf ears. They don’t care. The nursing administrators forget where they came from, they works bedside once too. The patients ultimately suffer the consequences. Ever since our Hospital did not renew travel contracts in June, there are so many more code blues and rapid responses and code greys, which would be for aggressive patients. It’s not a safe place to work.
We are in desperate need of safe staffing laws in Pennsylvania.
