Can upcoming recession result in layoffs for people on bench? US advisory practice.

Shall I disclose reason for leaving a firm during my initial call with a recruiter from said firm, if I was laid off? Are they privy to that information. Ironically being recruited by that same firm

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.

Most staff/sr assoc would make 80% of salary for the next 4 months if fired & yet firms are considering pay cuts.

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Left McKinsey for a Fintech corporate last year. Really disappointed to see bonuses given out (cash is equivalent to half month salary, equity vested over 5 yes also not great) after getting the 5/5 rating and business doing well overall.
