Additional Posts in Australia and NZ Consultants
Hi All,
My current company havs recently merged with ACN. I worked as senior engineer at the moment. I have few questions about ACN world. I hope you could help me out.
1. What is difference between strategy and consultant in ACN. Which is better position in terms of career and salary?
2. as senior engineer with 8+ years experience, which level will I match in ACN E.g. level 9?
3. Is there a chance to boost my salary when they pairing the level?
Thank you in advance

I think there are two answers to your question- the admin challenges of actually getting here and the challenge of settling into a new place once you actually arrive/differences in work etc. On the admin side, assume it will take longer than you expect even on an internal transfer (or especially on an internal transfer - for my firm even though I made all the connections myself, had all the sign offs prepped etc, it still took a good 2-3 months to get through the transfer process (and that was considered quick!). The visa process for aus can be pretty lengthy as well. Be prepared to need to provide 10 years of address history, travel history (coming from Europe and trying to remember everytime you left the country for 10 years can be a challenge!), employment history, police checks, education evidence, etc. It's not impossible but it is a lot to gather and can just take time.
The other thing I found on the admin, and it may just be my firm, but it's very hard to get things to move in parallel, so for example the visa process couldn't commence until I had a signed job offer following all the internal approvals, then the relocation support doesn't kick in until you've got an approved visa so every day of delay really does make things drag on. And of course the time difference means asking/answering questions isn't always quick either.
Not meaning to sound doom and gloom but just giving you the heads up as I was very naive about how long things would take and how much paperwork would be involved coming into the process. Nothing is insurmountable but just be prepared to have a wait!
Thanks so much, this is extremely helpful
Right now, getting the visa for Australia. Management consulting isnβt PMSOL, so itβs hard to get an employer-sponsored visa in Australia at the moment with border closures.
Not sure what the visa situation is in NZ, but my NZ friends cannot get a space in MIQ (NZ quarantine). So even if you got an NZ visa, you would struggle to enter NZ right now.
You are allowed into Australia on a 482 tss if you are fully vaccinated. But getting the visa is the challenge. PMSOL roles are the only employer-sponsored visa that are definitively processing right now, and management consultant isnβt a PMSOL role. Most consulting firms arenβt sponsoring right now because of it.
