Been doing a little performance review of the last 6 months and it’s interesting what’s worked for me. Best trade was short TLT. Next best trade was the run on GBTC this week. I’ve also done well on the big cryptos, commodities and the reflation trade. At the same time my SPAC and growth book is basically flat over the last 6 months. Don’t get locked in on a single idea or theme. Be willing to admit you’re wrong and trim a losing position. Try new things and listen to new voices. Best of luck.

So basically the only thing I find appealing about PE is money (judge all you want but I’m sure I’m not alone) - I don’t like excel, or finance, or math. And I just got an offer for a PE role in an industry that I don’t love and with 3 fewer weeks of vacation than my current role (I really value vacation time)... idk would I be a total idiot to pass up the chance to break into PE? Long term goal is to marry rich and retire young lol.

How successfully do buyout Associates recruit into the startup scene?

Im a pre-MBA associate at BCG with diligence experience and a strong interest in PE. However, knowing myself, I think I will eventually want to end up in an early stage operating role.

Ideally, I would love go through a buyout shop’s Associate program to round out my skillset, but sometimes I wonder if a.) those skills will even translate to a startup and b.) I should consider a more direct path.

I work as an Information System Security Officer. I've been in this position for a few years now. I've been wanting to do something more technical lately (cloud computing/ethical hacking), but I'm not sure how to make the leap. The ISSO function entails a lot of paperwork, security enforcement, auditing, and reporting. I recognize the significance of the position, but to be honest, I find it tedious. What do you all think of 2-3 year Human Resource Leadership Development rotational programs?

I always wanted to be a planner but found myself in acc due to job availabilities and needing to pay rent. While a great account person is priceless, it’s just not me - unless I fake it and go against my nature. Now I’m a few years in and generally dislike my job because it’s schmoozing, pencil pushing, and not really producing. How can I make the pívot to strategy? Is a pívot even realistic? Should I just say fuck it and bear with things until going client side someday?
