Any freelance wedding DJs out there?
Are we allowed to discuss the Top G In here?
stay for 1 year in manhattan, get a feel of the city, how to commute etc and then decide which neighborhood you want to live longer term. that said, don’t bring your entire life on your first year in NYC. this way, it’s easy for you to move around.
Roommates, found mine thru craigslist. make sure you meet in person your potential roommates, and do some googling about them once you have their full names. i met mine thru that site and we’ve been friends even after everyone else moved out. i’ve lived with ‘strangers’ since college, so I know when to say something or keep quiet with roommates. avoid east harlem, fin district, times square area, south bronx or ghetto places in brooklyn. i’ve lived in fin district for a year and happy I moved out (though it was a walking distance to our office). i live in upper east side near the east river and happy here
I'm trying to figure that out. I'm an analyst with an analyst salary, so I think probably absolute max 1900?
streeteasy. 1.9k can get you a studio in upper east, west harlem. or a1-bedroom in astoria or bigger ones further east of queens. if you can get a roommate, you can have a decent 2/3bedroom in a luxury bldg in midtown, ues, battery park. for first timers in nyc, avoid places/areas that are too crowded with tourists / midtown
if it is, it’s really a great spot you got there!
Yep just saw it as well! I'm a female looking for female roommates unfortunately, or else I'd love to
@M1, yep, it’s a great spot, love the hood. Pass it along if you know anyone!
@OP, good luck with the search, definitely consider BK
@M1 - why do you say that about Financial district?
Check out NYBits for no fee apartments. Site looks like it’s from the 90’s but it’s legit. LeaseBreak is also worth exploring—I know a few people who sublet to start then took over the lease.
SA1, it’s a dead area at night and VERY tourist at day
OP! As a girl I’ve found living with random guy roommates to be way easier than girls 🙉
budget?
M1- where do I find roommates? I don't really know anyone in the city. As well, what are the areas to avoid?
Thanks!
@OP, when are you moving? We have an opening in our 3bdr starting 6/1.
Oooh first week of June probably!
Do you have a burner I should email?
SC1, this is your post right? "NYC 🐠 - looking for a new roomie starting 6/1 in our 3 BR Greenpoint duplex (see CL post)..."

Thanks everyone! Let me know if y'all wanna hang out at some point since I know no one in NYC :)
Hahaha honestly, I personally don't care, but my family would judge the crap out of me (Indian) and I just don't wanna go through that
