When I worked at a smaller firm, life was not this stressful. Currently, I only see two benefits of working for a big four: increase of salary and brand name. What are the other benefits?

How hard do you push interns? An intern told me that a task took 4 solid hours, which seemed very high for the output provided. I checked the file version history, and there are a few 30-60 min breaks, and 80% of the task was obviously done in the hour before a check-in deadline. How, and how harshly should I push them on this discrepancy? Before you ask, this was a data transformation task that happens 100% in the same file, with no need to Google, use other files, ask for help, etc.

Need some advice... Have final interviews lined up...Deloitte or PwC ...go!

l'm tempted to consider a call center role as I'm at wits end on my crappy Technology delivery project with toxic management whipping us all day with unreasonable timelines. At least the cc work is limited to a 9-5 schedule right? And you are there to guide them on the unemployment process and FAQ's? Seems like a good alternative to collect a 6-figure paycheck doing simple support with minimal training and reading from a script? Do other consulting firms do call center for state unemployment?

Am I working hard enough? In a typical day I'll spend 3-4 hours in meetings (half of which I dose through) and then I spend 45-90mins working (playing with excel, ppt time etc) with the rest being procrastination. I've been in consulting 10 years and this has mostly been my pattern. I'm not the highest performer but I'm in the top half at my (tier 2) firm. Is everyone like this?

I just accepted a job for another smaller boutique with increased responsibilities- managing and executing with a small team below me. The pay is very good but part of me feels I missed out on the hiring spree at big brand name companies, even if it meant I had to restart at square one.
