Sales can be lucrative especially if you are motivated to work hard and good at closing deals.

Some type of sales assistant position, maybe one that ties to customer service if you have experience with that.

Hi! I'm new here so I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed before (if so, please excuse me). I've always wanted to pursue an MBA after gaining sufficient work experience, but now I'm really split between whether to pursue an MBA (and if it's worth the money) or to pursue another MSc instead. I hope I can gain some insights from the community here. Thank you!

Is it common in the industry for licensed insurance agents to not get any commissions on a referral in which you personally write the policy? Ex: If a current client refers a prospect to our team, I would not receive commission. Additionally, if I write a policy for friends/family I would get a small incentive but it’s a fraction of the commission producers make.
Management is considering changing this going forward. However, I’m not sure how I should react if they keep things how they are now.

Have about ~25k sitting in ROTH TSP. Calculators forecast that’ll be worth about north of~200k by the time I hit retirement at an average rate of 10% growth. Would it make more sense to roll it over into employer (Vangaurd) 401k plan to have more buying power of certain funds? Or are the expense fees that good and low in the TSP that I should just keep it in place?

Where I’m at:
- 16 years of sales exp, 0 of which in tech
- Working on DataCamp to learn SQL and Tableau; enjoy the challenge.
- Just started exploring SF Trailhead, specifically an SF Admin trail.
- I’m trying to break into a remote position in tech, but I am unsure what route to take.
- Basically, I’m lost. I feel like I’m playing checkers while others are playing chess.

If you have experience working through a career change (in your early 30s) as you break into tech, I’d appreciate any tips.

How does one get into underwriting in the western MA area? I have an associates degree in business and 5 years of insurance experience. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. So I am an actuarial analyst who got started about three months ago. I had a chance to do a data scientist intern, which I really loved. how long is your commute, and how often do you come in?

My wife and I are looking for a new place to live. Right now our commute is nearly unbeatable. 2 minute walk to a 30 minute train, and an 8 minute walk/scooter ride to the office from the train.

I'm spoiled.

Everywhere we're looking generally requires a drive to the train, which makes every commute basically twice as long as it is currently.

Hi all! I work at a nonprofit and am looking to leave the organization. As I browse available positions in my area, I’m realizing there is a LOT of crossover between my current org and others, for example shared board members, folks who are on our board and employed at one of the institutions I’m interested in, etc.. Is there a way to say “my current org doesn’t know I’m looking, so please treat my interest with discretion” that doesn’t raise red flags? Thanks!

I work as a clinical care manager (LCSW) with an insurance company. Wondering if there is a better way of finding out salary information for other companies out there that have similar positions? I do feel that I am compensated fairly but lower than what I initially expected based on what I saw on glassdoor. I was told it’s because it’s based on cost of living where I am residing (not sure if that was legit or just an excuse).
