Following thread bc I have the same question in the back of my head. first thought though - grad school seems like a bad option right now (covid) as much of the value of attending a grad program seems to be the network (Ie best to wait for more in person normalcy)

Not unless your in strategy. Also consider the additional debt you'll take on since you cannot count on funding being guaranteed through grants and such. MBAs aren't worth it if you don't have the name recognition from a big name school imo, and even then... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-17/best-business-schools-mba-students-rethinking-value-of-their-degrees

Great read, thanks for sharing

More purpose driven. MBAs are not cheap.

Given your circumstances, I would stay at my firm. Most people get their MBA to pivot or feel like they’re stuck at their level and can’t get promo.

Great input, thanks 🐠. Cost isn’t as big a concern for me (thankfully). I guess the question is if there more value in 5-10 years driven from an MBA or should the focus be on investing that extra time/effort in growing vertically within my firm (which I plan on being at for foreseeable future)

Is it normal for you to ever be “ghosted” by your administration? I feel like I’m constantly emailing, calling, texting, and meeting with them and nothing gets done. As soon as I leave their office, I’m ignored. If I email/text them a question or request, I’m ignored unless it benefits them. This is at a district where I travel between 3 schools and have 3 principals. They’re all like this and communication is especially important since I have to travel.

Hey Fb friends - need an advise. My current firm hasn’t stated my GC process yet and with current processing time it appears to be somewhere around 12-15 months time to get PERM approved. In addition my current firm needs leadership approval & they make me sign a reimbursement form in case I quit. On other hand, I have approved i40 from my ex-employer (Big4) who fired me last fall, I don’t know if they will hire me back. Since I am from India and the date of filing appears like going to be…cont.

Not financially savvy (learning). I want to set aside $2500 a paycheck for a house down payment in 18-36 months. Does it make more sense for me to contribute the $2.5k to my 401k monthly and withdraw in 2 years, or just set aside $2.5k into a savings account? Already maxed ESPP. My end goal is to buy a house.

Beginner and trying to get my finances in order. Income: $200k+. Maxed out 401k for the year. I have $60k in my savings account (just paid student debt off this year). I’ve searched the bowl… Are next steps: (a) invest (maybe $30k?) in ETFs and add to it each month, (b) open a HYS at HMBradley to hopefully get a high interest next quarter? I’m not convinced about the mega back door Roth (whether it makes sense for my situation) so putting in only a small amount there. Any thoughts? TIA!

I have roughly 60k in my investment account, 45k in 401k and an adequate balance in my emergency fund. I also contribute to my HSA and will cross the threshold for investing that in January. During 0% on student loans i have been using every spare dine to pay that down. My question is should that continue or should I tone that back and start investing more? Cont’d in comments...

I did an internship with a boutique consulting firm that got extended for a full year while I was in school full time as well. TLDR; I have 3+ years of experience, 1 year at a small consulting shop and 1.5 years at B4 upon graduation. Is it true that none of this experience really counts?
