I recently graduated with a bachelors in finance, and have recently got hired (5 months ago) as a financial analyst. Realistically I do FP&A for a company. I have realized I am not a huge fan of doing non stop spreadsheet all day. Am thinking I’d enjoy my career more by becoming a financial planner and getting my CFP certification. Maybe in the future opening up my own firm. Any advice on what career move to make next in order to accomplish this? CFP requires 3 years of relative experience.

Hi, are there any Construction Project Managers/Owner’s Representatives out there? I’ve been one for 1.5 years, after being a Structural Engineer for 10 yrs. I’m so grateful I made the pivot bc I had gotten completely miserable on the engineering side and now I love my job. I also made a significant salary jump to just over $100k when I made the switch. But bc I felt underpaid most of my engineering career, I want to make sure I don’t continue to be. Am I doing good? For reference I’m 34/female.

I'm looking to pivot careers to a different industry. I did environmental engineering at uni, but my career for the past 10 years has been in project management for construction work in an industrial/power plant setting. I'm open to project management/strategic roles. I'm potentially interested in tech, but I'm open to all suggestions and advice!

I'm considering pivoting to copywriting because that's the part of my role I'm best at -- a lot of the account management stuff is draining, but I can whip out social and marketing copy quickly & I enjoy it. Wondering if anyone has insight / leads on making the jump from accounts to the copy side when applying for jobs? 5 YOE, 3 in-agency with a mix of automotive and pharma + a side gig as a published author with muliple books (hoping that'll help on the creative / copy end?) Thank you!

A good friend of mine has been having some bad luck with finding a job post MBA. I've worked with him before, and he's excellent. At what point does “ego” stop mattering? Over the past 5 years I’ve worked my way to being an Account Manager, but ultimately my career goal is to work for the government. There’s an opportunity to be an admin assistant working for the government, and would be a nice way for me to get in and move up. But the title change from Account Manager to Assistant is a big deterrent. Logically I know that it doesn’t matter, but emotionally it’s hard to feel like I am taking a major career step back?

How do you know it’s time to leave a job/pivot? (vs sticking it out). We’ve grown really quickly as a company so it’s definitely an adjustment.

Pros:
- Lots of people are great to work with
- Smart marketers
- Has been a huge career accelerator leadership wise
- Growing company and stable-ish industry
- Hopeful future

Cons
- More red tape, slower innovation
- More meetings/reporting than work
- Doesn’t feel like creativity is a value
- A few prominent people left recently
- Lots of burnout
