Well, I’m not personally doing super well (aaaand pretty certain I’m about to get laid off), but here are my takeaways:
-I don’t think it’s necessary to go full hair and makeup, but getting it together enough to look put together on camera has helped
-Make time to exercise (this is especially hard for me because my primary source of exercise is Olympic weightlifting and I can’t currently do that and I do not enjoy cardio!)
-I don’t have a proper desk setup, but I’ve got a bar-height counter I’ve been using as a standing desk, and trying to sit on a balance ball when I can. Sitting on my couch was making me really uncomfortable
-Realize that everyone else is also stressed and we’re all dealing with and processing this in our own ways and everyone is likely in self-preservation mode (though we probably all already have this skill, it can be hard to remember in these times)
-Be kind to yourself, whatever happens, and try to do your best when you can. I know we are expected to be “always on” but this is unprecedented and anyone who can’t understand the human struggle right now is probably a jerk.
This is bigger than what we do right now, and whatever happens, we will bounce back! Staying safe, and being kind to others, is so much more important than anything else. I’m scared of what’s going to happen to me professionally, but in the end, it’s small potatoes, right?
