Hey y’all - I have a large amount (think $20K +) of credit card debt. I recently finished grad school and have enough to pay it all off, but a lot of my money is in stocks, mutual funds, etfs, etc.

Should I just liquidate and pay down the CC debt ASAP? Should I consolidate the CC debt into another loan? Curious how folks have thought about the right balance of debt vs investment.

Yes. CC debt is the worst possible debt. Don’t you have like a 20%+ interest rate? That’s way more than you’d expect to earn on those investments

like

Look for 0% APR balance transfer cards and transfer some or all of it if you are in a bind. That will buy you 6-18 months depending on your credit score.

Be very disciplined to set target date to pay those off once the promo period end. Also shred the card when you received it so that you never use it because you don’t want to incur more debt and you will pay interest on any of your purchase because you can never pay those off until you pay off the rest of the balance transfer.

like

This! and CC debt is one of the horrible type of debt, pay it down fast

Pay it off and start fresh.

Questions for my fellow EAs out there:
1. How many of you travel for your job? If so, are there stipulations?
2. My team is having an 2-day offsite meeting in another city and many folks outside of our team are all traveling in for it. Some are only attending for an hour. My exec told me yesterday I couldn’t attend (after weeks of asking him), citing that we couldn’t have excessive hours of OT (maybe 4 hrs). I do not feel valued as a team member.

I’m moving out of the city that I’ve been in for the past 2 years. I have the option to move into a HCOL city with my friends or live at home with my parents in the suburbs. I know I’ll have way more fun & be happier with my friends in the city, but I’m going back to get my MBA in the fall of 2023 (already accepted) & can save >$40k if I live at home for a year and can use that for school. I’m 23 with no debt and $100k TC. Would love to hear some thoughts - is the extra $40k worth it?
