Additional Posts in Jobs for Teachers
We need more teachers down here in AZ! If you're in the area, or moving to the area, or even thinking about moving to the area (😅) feel free to check some of these out and apply. I would recommend going through the schools website, but there are multiple schools hiring! Cannot provide referrals, can provide recommendations for a good place to get a drink to celebrate your new job.

Taught my first 6 years in NW Indiana. Lots of good districts in “da region,” especially in Porter and LaPorte counties and South/Central Lake county. Salaries likely higher in Illinois and into SW Michigan, but cost of living higher in Illinois. Lots of options depending on type of area you want to live - urban, suburban, rural, college town, etc. The good news is that so much can be researched online.
I'm here in 'da Region. Lake, not Porter.
I agree with other post. I teach in Illinois. The salary scales vary from one district to another. If you live in the west or north suburbs you may make higher salaries. Chicago is its own district and has its own policies. Most districts have strong unions. Hope this helps
I teach in Indianapolis and live in the suburbs. Pay scales vary greatly from district to district. My association (can’t use the word union here 😉) is very strong and has fought hard for us the last few years. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.
Overall, average salaries will be higher in Illinois, and it will generally have stronger Unions.
However, you really need to look at specific districts to get a true comparison.
IDK where you are looking at, but in Mundelein. IL (a suburb of Chicago) has a pretty high pay scale for the High School.
