Which company would you join?
I currently work in Sales with the intention of moving over to marketing in the near future. I received two offers for BDR/SDR roles from Sprout Social and Gong. Both salaries are around the same (Gong - base 63k + anticipated $25k in commission, Sprout - 55k base + anticipated $25k in commission).
I like both companies’ software and it extremely hard to decide which position will get me into marketing faster as it is not a traditional BDR path to take.

55k base + 5K sign-on bonus with no commission isn't worth it imo😅
I would aim for opportunities that are at least 55K base + 20K-30K commission structure.
Your first professional job- yes. Take it.
So an SDR position is an entry level position, for people with little to no sales experience and very rarely, any commission.
To spar over $5K to have a major name brand employer on your resume seems foolish, unless you really, really need that money. What about 401K matching? Benefits? Could those costs or additional monies offset the $5K?
If I were in your position, wanting to get into Tech sales without any previous experience, I'd accept the position (if its a really good fit), know up front the job is going to suck but it's a stepping stone and crush your number every quarter. Build your network at Twitter, do more than asked, have a positive attitude, be coachable, so when you are ready for promotion or progression, you'd be a likely & natural candidate. The next position, in theory, would give you more money and room for commission.
i might have another offer paying more which also offers commisson but then im thinking since this is my first job in tech, should I stick with it as it would be good to have a big company like Twitter on my resume???
Oh okay gotcha!! Okay welll still thankyou so much for sharing your perspective!! :)
I can’t speak to the role or offer, but I’ve been really impressed with the company culture so far (joined earlier this year). Fantastic big tech benefits, holidays + monthly days of rest, work from where you want stance, and async first approach have been awesome.
I can also confirm Twitter is awesome!! While it might not pay a lot, there are great perks that help (free food, gym reimbursement, etc) and it gets your foot in the door. Twitter is great at helping employees branch out into other roles at the company. Also if you can work your way into a client partner role after you get some sales experience, that role makes a a lot
Sounds a bit low for a HCOL and Twitter. However, I know SDR roles don't pay super well. Its a risk, but you could take the role and you will hopefully work your way up to AE and make double that.
yeh they mentioned it was due to the reason that they want to encourage SDRs to wanna move their way up so they don’t make it commission based!
