I did PPO this year as I was expecting a child. I selected it because I felt like it was less out of pocket but admittedly I didn't look into the high deductible plan too much. Some people swear by it but it always made me nervous
I also used to have HDHP. We decided to switch to PPO when we were planning to start our family this year. I was glad to have a $600 deductible which made it worth it to do optional recommended testing. I think I’m glad I made this choice and will likely pick PPO for next year which is when I’ll give birth. It’s so hard to decide!
I personally thought it was very worth it to have the low deductible! The first appointment can be pretty pricey but after that, the rest have been $100 or less each. Just my experience so far, but it’s been good! The only bummer is if you get pregnant and have the baby in different calendar years, you’ll pay 2 deductibles. But then just go in for any other care you can think of when you max out the out of pocket!
