6) lastly, trust me it’s not that easy to transition from consulting (even MBB) to good FAANG positions, and you’ll find that you’ll pick up feedback throughout interview processes and learn from your mistakes. So persevere through a couple rounds and it will happen!
7) also, for any relevant role in FAANG hiring consultant you’ll compete with MBB folks and MBA folks and that will always be a barrier. I’ve had multiple onsite rounds with FAANG where the barrier to entry was simply an MBA, and got very clear feedback from the hiring managers and recruiters on that being the cause. Having said that, you can still break in without an MBB/MBA background for good positions, but it can take a few cycles
Thank you so much Amazon1!
Honestly, with FAANG:
1) Referrals are the quickest way for you to get your foot into the door for interviews, especially with FB, Apple, Google and Amazon, so ex college mates, ex pwc mates, friends, family, reach out to them
2) Netflix tends to hire senior experienced people, especially for their main positions
3) for cold online applications I think Google, Twitter, Microsoft and Amazon are best bets. Please look outside FAANG as well. Plenty of phenomenal and credible tech companies out there that aren’t labeled FAANG, but carry the same prestige
4) my recommendation: cold message folks on LinkedIn who are at your target companies and have worked at PwC before or went to your college
5) please aim for specific positions and these are competitive interviews so your enthusiasm and passion for the role and responsibilities needs to come through otherwise you’ll get filtered out after first couple rounds. Also, no one is happy in roles they don’t want to do, and no matter how much people tell you, it’s not that easy to switch between roles in a very short amount of time - a lot of stars need to align for it all to happen
