Does it matter when I ask for a raise? My company process is that my manager completes a performance review, then I review what he wrote and after I sign off on it, that’s when raises happen. I know no one wants to hear this, but don’t be an idiot this weekend and think you’re invincible. We are still in a pandemic and multiple people I know who are vaccinated have gotten very sick recently. Some are still sick 2 weeks into it and it is scary to think if they hadn’t been vaccinated, they would’ve been in an ICU based on how rough they have felt / their symptoms. Tips for getting unstuck? Have no motivation and don’t see the point of anything. I listened to a podcast the other day with Jay Shetty who made a point about finding passion and purpose. My work is interesting, I have side projects and hobbies. I workout everyday.

Every time I speak to my director (at least twice a week), he works in how he is getting older into the conversation(humorously). For instance, he forgot something non-work related, said “sign of old age”. He recently told a story, said, this is how old people talk. He likes to come across as a grandfatherly figure, but I’m not sure what to say in these encounters. It is always an innocent, non work related context. Have you guys experienced this ? What is an appropriate response ?
