Hi all! I am 11 weeks +4 pregnant and I am really excited about. I thought why not now since I’m working from home. Questions: 1) when did you tell your Senior Manager about it? 2) do you tell HR as well? For context, this is a high risk pregnancy due to a pre-existing condition I have. I joined Deloitte in March’20 and I know the firm offers paid maternity leave, but am I missing anything else here? Welcoming all tips and advice :) and thank you advance!

I told my leadership around 14-16 weeks. I contacted HR for the process and paperwork by week 12. I just wouldn’t bring it up all the time, but if you need time for appts it’s already known and doesn’t look like you’re interviewing elsewhere lol.

Great suggestion, I am seconded to a project so there’s a lot of flexibility as far as going to doctors appt but it’s good to let leadership and HR know just in case. Thank you!

I waited til I was almost 5 months. I told HR first. I didn’t trust my manager and didn’t feel like they would be happy for me. So I waited until I couldn’t hide it anymore.

Ugh, I am sorry you had to experience that with your manager and I appreciate your advice. Fortunately my SM seems really reasonable and hopefully telling her around week 13-14 won’t be an issue!

I waited till after my 20 week scan before telling my senior manager. I would just give your team enough notice that you can pass along any responsibilities before you have to take off. I was nervous for my convo but everyone was very positive about it so was stressed for no reason!

You can call 1-800-Deloitte for any leave or benefit questions. Basically they will give you a form where you fill out your expected due date and expected return date which you will have your PPMD sign. You get 6-8 weeks short term disability then 16 weeks leave on top of it. You can take any accrued PTO to take off up to 24 weeks. Obviously have the convo with your team before giving them the form to sign but feel free to call the number for any questions you have even if you’re not comfortable sharing with management yet.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed but the benefits people did a good job answering all my questions!

Giving birth automatically qualifies you for STD. Believe me you will understand why once you go through the recovery process! Haha. I believe the standard is 6 weeks for a natural delivery and 8 weeks for a c-section.

I told my managing partner first which I think is the right way to go but I don’t know the dynamics at DT or your team. I also told HR right after her because they have support programs and stuff so it’s helpful to plan ahead for that.

I’ll likely do that! Managing partner and then HR... it’s always good to follow the chain of command! Thank you!!

Just venting. My husband is so much into watching his tv show that he is not at all interested in planning the baby shower or even in making the registry. It just feels that I am doing everything right now and his priorities are just around watching his TV show. I get that he needs his me time but our baby shower is few weeks away and we have not sent out the invite yet, do not have the registry finalized (I cannot do it as he wants to be involved or will make changes over my selection). Which one is a better choice?

YOE - 4.4 Years
Skill - QA Engineer

1. Oracle India - 18.2 LPA fixed
2. Amadeus Labs - 17 LPA fixed + 1.5 variable + 75k joining bonus.

I want to join Oracle for its brand, but Amadeus on the whole provides better benefits than Oracle like transportation, food facilities and better hikes. Is it true hikes in Oracle are terrible?

And how is the job security in Amadeus?

CHANGE MY MIND: 25Y, salary 80k, 25k in HYSA, max roth, contributing to 401K. I’m currently living with my parent (free) since the pandemic started and moving across the country whenever it’s back to “normal”. But I miss having my own place, and looking at a $1500/m apartment for max 6 months. I know it’s not a financially good idea since I can keep living for free but I don’t like being at home(miss having my own place). I would be saving like $1500 each month but it could be $3k!

Can anyone recommend good investment options in Bank of America HSA account? I feel their funds are very limited compared to what I have seen from 401k and IRA. Anyone recommends your HSA account?

The US should have 1 year of paid parental leave- agree or disagree?

How would you feel going on vacation with friends who want to bring their kid along too?

So I received an offer as a urgent care practice administrator of $3000 more yearly than my current …with an increase to $8000 when I assume an additional practice on a part time basis. (All in writing) Along with free healthcare at any of the 5 locations for my whole family plus up to $10,000 yearly bonus. It’s a start up and culture is completely in tune with me thoughts?

How much had everyone saved up in their bank account by the end of their senior year? I have a lot of expenses (not married but taking care of a child) and I only have a $20,000 net worth

What measures has your company taken to minimize losses due to covid?

We were forced to take 6 days leave in April (bovenwettelijk) which was kind of a weird move. I don’t think our bonuses are getting cut this year so if it’s my bonus or 6 days leave I’d gladly take the latter.

Do all Big4s have collective disconnect holidays (holiday during last week of December)? Or it’s just a Deloitte thing?

Thinking a few steps ahead for my start-up... Are there intangible benefits to obtaining VC funding (I.e. beyond the obv $$$ to scale your start-up)? Like validation of your idea? Or reputational advantage etc? Better access to talent?

Because when I see posts by founders celebrating their $6M funding round and imagine if I were to go the same route, my mind thinks “great, now I’m $6M in debt and I work for somebody else”. I kind of see VC as a last resort

What am I not seeing?

Can anyone share the Scotiabank employee benefits? How is the family insurance deductable? How is the yoy hikes and bonus? Can you take accumulate and take PTO's ? @scotiabank

New start coming out of undergrad - other than maxing out 401k contribution to 18.5k in the year, what other low hanging fruit should I get? (I.e. I’ve heard of a Roth ira but not sure what it is)

Hey everyone! I need some guidance. I just received and offer for $65,000, the offer didn’t include benefits. I would like to counter but want to know all necessary information before doing so. What is the best way to request for their benefits package?

So I accepted my offer from a new firm (where I am getting a 30k increase + benefits) and gave my two weeks yesterday but my boss was shocked. She wants to give me a counter offer tomorrow but ultimately told me she cannot give me the benefits the new firm is offering (health, dental, vision insurance, unl. PTO, 401k matching). Part of me already has my mind made up that I’m leaving but the other part has me thinking I might be making a mistake…. I am going to hear her out but IDK what to do!

Not sure this is the right bowl for this really but anyway - does anybody have an idea of what Cerner does? I have an offer to join as Healthcare IT consultant but I BSed my way through every stage. I still actually have no idea what it is they do…

Hello, I am a healthcare professional looking to get into practice management. I have a background in physician compliance and a masters in healthcare administration. Any tips on how to get into practice management?

Looking for some advice/suggestions here. 24 years old, TC is now 110k. I have 40k cash savings. $6,500 in my 401k and $6,400 in Roth IRA. Just was promoted and wondering if that’s too much cash to hold onto AND if contributing to a Roth makes sense. I contribute 7% with 100% match and 10% profit sharing at the end of the year to the 401k. Contributing $550 a month to the Roth. Would appreciate any ideas as I know it’s a good spot but just wanted to see if it’s the smartest approach.

Hello fishes!
I will be moving to Germany next month to pursue my Master's and will need a part time student job to sustain my living expenses. I have 7 years of work experience in SAP UI5/Odata/ABAP areas. If anyone has any relevant opportunities or any kind of leads, please do connect. I can work 20 hours per week and I have German A1 certification so far, working on improving it further.
Thanks in advance!
