I have been working with a company for about 6 years as a Recruiter but I don’t feel I’m gaining the best recruiting experience due to so many limitations our company has. I’ve had to teach myself Boolean searching to be more active in recruiting. I have not had the luxury of someone to truly mentor me into a Recruiter so I’m trying to find any way I can learn and be more employable. Any advice? I’ve obtained my SHRM-CP, CIR and am in the process of a the PRC. What else can I utilize or do? Thx!

What is the deal with companies not wanting to hire agency recruiters to corporate recruiting roles? If anything, your work harder in an agency environment. I have 4 years of experience recruiting for permanent, corporate roles for a large agency and have recently been interviewing to go corporate but have been shut down a few times considering my “lack of corporate experience” or “ the hiring manager won’t look at anyone coming from agency”.

So I feel like I might be underpaid. I have 5 years of experience in agency recruitment. I live in Los Angeles but lead a start up department for my company starting a new office while running a full desk, on average I bring in about $300k which I know isn't a ton in agency but for our company I am the second highest biller. I have 4 direct reports, all recruiters, and this year my total take home is about $80k with salary/bonus/commission.
How do you all deal with the large number of LinkedIn requests from candidates that want to chat 1:1 when you are not the right recruiter for the position. As you can see, I work for a very large company with many divisions. I don’t know many other recruiters outside of the bubble of my greater team. I want to be helpful, but I have no insight to the role or know the recruiters for those roles. Do you think it’s okay to give them the correct recruiter’s name?
