I resigned from my company and said to my manager that I'll be taking break from software engineering as I'll be preparing for a competitive exam. But I am joining a new company just after my notice period finishes.

I have really good relationship with manager. Are they going to know when I join a new company if i don't update linkedin ? Is it considered unprofessional to lie ? It's my first switch , that's why I felt bad admitting that I am switching for higher compensation.

Work for a startup. started a year ago and the job ended up being higher level than my title or my salary reflect. Have 7 years of experience, currently in a coordinator role with $75k sal. The salary sites all say i should be at $105k. But some of the job postings I’m seeing are saying more like $125k. I don’t know what to think.
