Hi all, I am trying to use YNAB but my spouse and I keep finances separate and use Splitwise regularly. I can NOT manually reconcile every Splitwise transaction; it would take wayyyy too much time. Does anyone have tips for how to integrate splitwise into YNAB?

What’s the point of using Splitwise with a spouse? If you are splitting things like utilities (weird, but whatever), just agree that you may for utilities in odd numbered months, your spouse pays even numbered months.

smart

It is not weird - lots of people split expenses.

Can you keep those items together in YNAB?

No, I mean utilities just stays a whole number, rent just stays the whole number. Then add an income category equal to what your spouse pays to offset the amount that is not yours. I don’t use YNAB, but this is what I would do in Mint.

My partner and I keep finances separate but here’s how we do it. We have a joint account with joint credit card where we both put in a lump sum every year directly from payroll. We have a YNAB account but 3 profiles. One for me one for my partner and one joint. All joint expenses flow into the joint profile

Serious question, HOW do you guys determine what watches you want to buy/add to your collection?

I may have tax problem from my 401k contributions😳 appreciate any input from tax pros:
I’ve elected max I can contribute to 401k through employer then switched jobs to a role that pays lot more. I continued to elect the maximum 401k contributions in the new job as well. Since they have no visibility to my previous contributions, the new company did not manage my contributions in a way that they don’t contribute more than maximum fed contribution limit of $19k max.
Am I in tax trouble? How much?
