Some banks might give you a shot atm otherwise I’d recommend doing a year in valuation or a transaction related role then switching from that. Not uncommon for someone to switch from Valuation/TAS/etc to IB at the analyst level.
You don’t need a CFA to get into IB
The cfa is pretty useless unless a good amount of ppl on the team also have CFAs, just network really hard within the bank and try to internally lateral, banks are trying to retain talent so you’d have a better shot at the same firm, also would recommend brushing up on some technical skills and use the networking opportunities to learn more about the transaction process so you’ll be well set up for an interview
I’ve seen it done from BB to MM or Boutique, but may have search off-cycle and be okay with starting as a first year analyst.
Honestly just stay in WM. Exit and start your own PE fund or become a financial advisor for high net worth individuals.
I’ve not seen it done, but this year is different so worth a try
I think I literally posted something almost exactly like this lol. Also doing WM at a BB and trying to leave, hard process for sure. Best of luck.
Possible, but very hard since there's not much overlap of skills. Make sure you have your technicals down solid and do a ton of networking. Perhaps transferring within your company would be easier assuming you're crushing it at current role
I was in commercial banking and moved to valuation and recently broke into investment banking. Might need to go into a ‘stepping stone’ roll before transitioning to IB. However, with enough networking and grit you should be able to make the move to IB without grad school.
Bro don’t do it. IB sucks. Try to get to a family office - that sounds soo nice rn
